Sub zero in general. I don't understand how so many players go for an extremely high risk - very low reward move like slide so much.
The answer to that is very simple. They dont think or at least now the way they should.
You have a character that allows average player to enjoy the game and win games even if he is slightly (soap bar in my mouth). Like those who pick Raiden, though he is not the same league but if you pay a closer look you will see mindless superman couple of times a round. And do on ...

BTW, all the best in 2017 @rubmytaco !

Probably because most of them just want to have fun and it works on let's say low/medium level of play. They are not top competitors and they don't care it's high risk low reward. They just wanna have fun playing.

I usually just throw it out to keep people on their toes and always respect low but I do admit, I get carried away sometimes

It has no whiff recovery, its fast, low profiles everything and they get away with it online 8/10 times. Simple as that.

Your right pal, its high risk and low reward, I don't know about anyone else but ill share my opinions on why I use it so much, its so fast and it can catch out a lot of people but the higher level players are savvy to it and/or are very quick on reaction if they see it coming then its block and punish, when I play against another Sub-Zero and they slide and I block it I have difficulty punishing it as im not that quick, its a case of SLIDE, oh bugger, block, oh ye!, oh I better punish, to slow so ill just poke, throw or something else that's quick.

Plus its a bad habit, I cant sit and wait when alot of the cast can either zone like a mofo, or teleport, or both, or build meter like no bodies business.

Old habits, die hard. I have one on my own.

There's a difference between using it as a spacing tool and just throwing it out at mid range, where it'll either hit or get blocked.

It's fine if people want to just play for fun and what not, but I'm talking about players on TYM. It was always my understanding that most people here want to improve. As fun as sliding around like a lunatic can be, I think it's much more satisfying to play a smart game and not constantly make the same mistakes. That's just my opinion I guess.

I really understand the concept of (for example) sliding fullscreen to close space fast and efficently. Was basically saying the same thing you think of ( I guess?).

I guess every player learn in their own pace. One may stop using risky moves earlier then other. Like Moonspell said earlier "old habits die slow".

I may be overly blunt to the point of being an asshole but at the end of the day someone needs to call out things like d4xxaura as a bad idea in order to further all our goals of being smarter/better players, especially with so little footage of legit tournament UB play to study. And when I'm wrong I admit it - like when we had the conversation about f4xxaura and how I thought it was a godlike (still think its really good, but you have to be really careful in order to not whiff it post-knockdown).

Why doesn't anyone use the EX Aura more often for the mixup opportunity? Hell I'd use my meter for that just for the damage taken reduction instead of EX Slide. I really wish they gave regular Aura a small damage taken reduction.

It would have been more interesting if the opponent took the chip damage or took small damage for hitting Sub. Think of punching glass shards.

Same of you guys have a strange understansing of "high level". I mean my gameplay is just as derpy (if not more) and I would never call it high level.

I've been lately into UB since the patch and I like it. My fav variation is still GM. I been watchin some UB matches from here and I dont understand few things. Like, noone is using exAura for plus frames and to continue pressure. For example: b33-exAura and 12-exAura is +5 and if its blocked you can do f33, b12 and if they are conditioned to block you can do throws or even better, another 50/50. Other thing is corner combos. Ppl tend to do "Grandmaster" combos and finnish with f12 is like they are going to put clone. I know they are using hitadvantage to put aura, but they are loosing few % of dmg as if they would finnish combo with b12-slide or 123-slide. After combo if aura is off you can do 5050 and have plus frames of low version via b33-exAura and 12-exAura and continue to pressure. And if aura is on you after combo you still have safe low option with b33-exShatter or 123-exShatter(which is hitconfirmable). All in all you dont loose dmg as with f12 and you can put aura on you and be plus (for bar tho). And if you dont have bar, there is f4-aura which is +3.

Are you considering senor Abram not a high level player?

Ps. My bad, I forgot it doesn't show our gamertags. Sorry m8

In regards to the comments with EX aura, again we all play that little bit different, but for me I find it a waste of a bar and id rather keep it to get more damage out a combo, b33 ex frost bomb or top tech ex sliding BOOM!!! or fast and safer ex parries.
I only use the ex aura to try catch out the better players as I used to use normal aura and ex in combos and get poked or eat some armoured move so it made me shy away from it more.
Plus with the better players blocking everything, using the bar for ex aura for everything to be block and just get a throw is a waste to me but again its all personal preference, it is a great pressure tool, if only he built more bar....
