If Patrick Stewart was an alt for Lex Green Arrow could die in a trashcan. He is the epitome of awesome.

Ok so:

Instant jumping strong is a mother -- the range on that is huge. Great defensive check. Also d1 combos into Gravity Pull. Dope.
Also the range on 113 is so huge, that you can just whiff the 11 and then hit people at full jump distance with the 3. The 3 ender combos, so you can pull them in with EN Gravity Pull and go to work.

Skyfall is 6 frames -- that's a nice move. Punishable on block though.

His uppercut is a 10 frame juggle/combo starter.

Using either standing strong or normal gravity pull as a combo/juggle ender (like after 112) gives fullscreen pushback, like a Kenshi SC ender.

Lex impressions...he's faster than I thought he'd be on his normals and his dash is good. Theres a reason though...all his traps and screen control specials have biiiiig startup and he's mad punishable. Plus he is a huge target for AA, but thankfully his sky fall ax is ENORMOUS and gives you a good shot against AA because its fast and crosses up from a good ways out. Lex's traps are good and I kept trying to setup stuff with land mine and orbital strike for a combo but it takes SO long to orbital strike that it wont combo into a landmine held opponent for me.

He will be good but dont expect to turn him into dormammu with the orbital strike and mines for screen control. Best use I found for mines were to dash out and toss and use them for Oki by setting them up behind folks after they fell so I could pressure their front . Which way do you roll son? They seem best for that.
Expect to back dash a LOT with him. His combos felt small and that sloooooow move he kept missing in that video of the players using him? Yeah thats a chargeable move that causes a bounced launcher state. Its not fast even at minimal charge, but someone was pounding and holding too much in that vid. Its doable, but throw it raw and you'll likely get ate.

His electric lance is a good super though and decent in combos. His armor gimmick isn't nearly as good as we'd hoped though. You charge it and each level is good to withstand so much damage with level 3 being 100% but I think each level still only absorbs 1 hit.

Lex is alright, but you'll be running if you try to use traps for more than Oki. I like pulling them into his fast normals a lot though and using him as a short combo, high mixup dude. Dash up short combo or vacuum into short combo, mine trap their oki rinse repeat.

shaowebb check the pushback on block for a standing Strong into the gravity mine.
I see what you're going for. That Rocket Raccoon mine trap trick folks use to KO Dark Phoenix. Throw mine behind them then pushblock them straight into it for free combo for Lex. Dirty, but if I check the distance on pushblock its worth the meter. I need to try it in the corner. If I can't throw my mines off screen this is a diiiiiiiiiirty trap for people to deal with. Let me see if I can set it up. Stupid AI is hard to work with. Wish I was in the lab.

Lex isn't gonna work how I thought, but his mixups/crossups are as good as I'd hoped. He doesn't create a wall like some space controllers. He more or less controls your footsies to throw you into his combos. Less about keeping folks out and more about forcing them into his offense. Good stuff. Very different and cool.

shaowebb the other thing is, depite the setup on the mines, I don't know if you noticed but you can gravity pull immediately after throwing one (like, immediately afterwards). That combined with the fact that you don't know if he's going to throw it medium or close, leads to some interesting mindgames.

Yeah Lex is playing more like what I wished Rocket Raccoon did play like. RR had to abuse boulder trap loops and crap like ROM combos that did piss damage to get anywhere. Lex has damage so his combos (while not long yet) do great and he has mixups ALL DAY. The ability to start offense with him is super good and his dash and fast normals mean he will be hard to deal with if he can get close enough. I'm thinking he runs best mid screen to close up. Good runaway zoners will mess with him, but at midscreen on up he seems able to catch you inside a sphere of crossups and mixup tools.

I wonder if like Vortex dudes if his oki stuff is good enough to turn it into the same sort of situation where you got to keep guessing until you get it right to get out of his offense? Sure seems that way so far.

I think Godlike rushdown pressure from dudes like Flash and Catwoman will be a problem for Lex since he doesn't have a ton of GTFO options so once the game hits and folks start trying to rush me to death in certain matchups I am gonna turtle and abuse throws just to start setting up oki games. Throwing and blocking up close vs fast dudes is something I think will be key to protecting him period honestly. Throws lead straight into his gameplan with those mines.

Orbital Strike is an unblockable that may be combo'd into. Due to it's delayed nature, comboing into it from any chain that causes a bounce or knockdown could theoretically lead to some very dirty setups.

The same goes for his fully-charged lance blast.

For instance, cancel X-X-Y into a fully-charged staff, an watch the unblockable hit go off just as your opponent gets up.

MOD EDIT: Combined these posts.

Ha, if your opponent is in the corner, you can do an IA Corp Charge before they wake up. He'll hang in the air above them and they'll wake up into it. I can't tell if it counts as a cross-up or not.

112~Orbiral Strike seems to be the first semi-reasonable OS setup.. But I can't play both controllers so I can't see what happens if you jump. And I don't know how big the cancel advantage is.
