I'm a lover, not a fighter
Australia is currently hosting the FIFA Womens World Cup at the moment. We are not a soccer nation (it's the 3rd most popular footy code), but even before the start of the tournament, Australian's have been going crazy for the Matilda's (the Australian Team). They have been breaking all time TV viewership records and stadiums have been at capacity - they have even opened a couple of non soccer stadiums to show the last two games on the bigscreen. They have been more popular than our men's team, to the point where if they win the tournament, the Prime Minister wants us to have a public holiday.
Australia has to be one of the most enthusiastic sports nations on the planet - we will watch anything, but it has been a long time since I have seen anything like this. I was wondering if the Women's World Cup is popular in other parts of the world or whether this is just another case of Australia being sports crazy?
