play another fighting game and give your main game a rest a couple days or weeks. learn a new fighting game properly in the mean time and increase your fundamental game plan

Have someone else on a higher level play you or watch your play for analysis.

This. Having someone analyze your matches or play a set with you to identify your problems is the #1 way to improve. Losing is fine, and extremely important to leveling up - you generally learn nothing from a decisive win - but if you're losing and don't understand WHY, then that's a waste.

Also once you identify an issue play matches where you concentrate on that only. IE if you are bad at defense simply concentrate on that instead of winning. Play defensive and punish wiffs. etc. One step at at time.

What worked for me was cutting some of my weakness completely from the game for a while.

I began Injustice as a Lex Luthor player, and I kept getting smashed up by people baiting and waiting for my corp charge. I tried to be careful and do it on reads or punishes, but it still happened.

So I got angry and for a couple of days, I removed the entire concept of Corp Charge from my game. I forgot it existed and played the character like it didn't have it.

Thus I had to work harder on getting in, on punishes, and overall on the other lacking elements of my game. Then, after four days, I got back using corp charge too, and I have to admit, it was a major improvement in my game. I was able to beat a lot of my friends that I couldn't before, and they started to fear the charge as they should, and stop baiting it because they'd get blown up.

If I'm on the verge of breaking stuff, it's usually because shit doesn't work. I read a jumpin but the anti-air fails, that kind of stupid stuff. It's an execution problem for me. Or something else messing up my game, which pisses me off to no end.

It's difficult to play other games and then come back to this one. You might get even more frustrated.

I'd say approach the game with a more open mind about learning off mistakes rather than just simply winning.

Most people make the mistake of thinking they will EITHER win or lose. But the real insightful players know that they will lose, lose, lose and then start winning.

Thanks for all the answers guys. Some actual wisdom came of this when I was sure I was going to get blown up and see salt.jpg everywhere.
