3) Childish Gambino- Because the Internet
4) City and Colour- The Hurry and the Harm
5) Tesseract- Altered State

7) After the Burial- Wolves Within
8) Northlane- Singularity

11) Black Sabbath- 13

I remember their first album, the one with a song called like...Sequoia Throne? Something like that. I kind of liked that album, but the dude's clean vocals were a little too much for me.
Heretics and killers is definetly the best song protest ever put out but sequoia throne was heavy too! Glad to see people on tym enjoy real music.

Fortress was their second album. I was actually like that at first too but they really grew on me.

Definitely agree with you there.

Groove Heaven I'm a /mu/tant. Pretty solid list. I was honestly pretty disappointed with Death Grips' new release this year. I thought it was gonna be a lot better. Overall hip hop albums were pretty disappointing this year compared to last year. I haven't listened to Janelle's new album, but I've been meaning to though.

Also +1 to whoever mentioned David Bowie's album, that was pretty solid.

Here's my top 10:
10) Touche Amore - Is Survived By. Really well-done emo album with fantastic lyrics and progression.
9) Disclosure - Settle. Catchy as hell house album with pretty much every track being memorable in some way.
8) My Bloody Valentine - m b v. My favorite band putting out a very solid release. The second half of the album is what really sets it apart.
7) Melt-Banana - Fetch. Just an explosion of sound from one of my favorite noise rock groups, one of their best releases.
6) Ka - Night's Gambit. My favorite hip hop release this year, really unique style with this one.
5) This Routine is Hell - Howl. My second favorite punk release for this year.
4) Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold. Great indie album. Too bad their second release this year kinda sucked.
3) Julia Holter - Loud City Song. Just amazingly well-done album that really surprised me.
2) VV Brown - Samson & Delilah. Awesome poppy, trip hoppy album that just gets better with every listen.
1) Iceage - You're Nothing. My favorite punk album of the year, and the one that stands out the most for me. They've really outdone themselves since New Brigade.

I don't know why I liked the Death Grips album as much as I did. Like...it's not that good, I just really liked it. I like the way Zach Hill plays with noise, but there was way too much vocal sampling vs. actual verses.

Yeah, a lot of rappers really disappointed me this year. The Flatbush tape is the only one I got really really into.

I tooooootally forgot that Iceage album came out this year. That should have been on my top 10 XD
