I'm playing it right now and I absolutely love it. I'm only 4% in but the story is great and the atmosphere is stellar.

Just wait till you experience your first night session....
Once you get later in the game the night sessions aren't bad at all, I sometimes get Super zombies to chase me to level up my agility. It actually makes it a lot more fun. I get what you mean about the first one though, that definitely freaked me out.

The scariest shit is falling into a tight space with one of those huge hammer zombies. Or having them right in front of one of your objectives. F#$% those dudes.

(off topic: I could of sworn I was watching this thread, I know im kind of necroing it lol)

What a day. What a lovely day.
I've been playing through it a lot, and I really enjoy it for the most part. I will say that some of the platforming sections can be tedious, and at times it's hard to gauge the distance between yourself and an enemy when attacking. Overall though, it's a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I was expecting it to be like Dead Island (which I didn't care for), so I'm glad DL is a bit more fast paced and visceral.

Beat it and on New Game +. Played 98% of the first play through with 2-3 friends, and it was really fun. There's not that much incentive to keep playing though. I mean, there's New Game +, but it's not much harder, and you won't really find much better weapons once you max out your levels. The game is great, but the level cap and lack of unique super rare weapons after you're maxed out kills the replayability.

All the secrets and easter eggs are awesome though. Hell, there's a Mario World easter egg where you actually go down a green pipe like in Mario, and you're in a Mario World with Zombie Goombas. Not even trolling either, it's actually in the game, lol. Just wish there was more of that.

Started playing yesterday with a friend, having fun with the game so far.
I was kinda hoping nighttime kept being scary, but based on the comments in this thread this doesn't seem to be true.

I heard the weapons kind of ruin it, like they put too much dead island in, when they really should have focused on something else

Unless weapons start to become OP, I don't see how they ruin it. From what I've played, I've spent more time running from enemies instead of trying to kill them because it takes for-fucking-ever to kill anything. But like I said, I'm still early on and maybe weapons get better as I unlock more skills.

You get better weapons as time goes on, but tge game then throws demolisher, rebar, and spitter zombies at you. Its never felt easy to me, at least playing alone.

Any of you guys want to play Co-Op? I've finished the main campaign but I still need to find/complete some side quest missions.

They begin to insert weapon based missions and fighting and shooting but the strength of the game is what you said. I heard they like half succeeded

Finally finished the game and all but 5 of the side missions(the ones I missed where those dumb "bring 8 bags of coffee to Toygar" etc.). Some thoughts:

1. The Finale
was super lame. Building up to fighting Rais the whole game and the best they could do is a button press sequence? Everything up to that was easy too, but my weapon is pretty OP so I can't really complain. I did kinda like how you kill Rais though, felt super satisfying.

2. Am I the only one who thought there should have been water zombies? Or at least let zombies chase you into the water. Swimming in the river in old town at night makes you unable to see anything, and all I could think was how scary a water zombie popping out at me would be. Maybe even a zombie shark or something. (This is probably my one super nitpicky complaint).

3. Disappointed they aren't going to do story DLC. The weapon pack is going to be nice and im sure the new quarantine zones might be fun(haven't had the chance to try them out yet). But I was hoping they either continued the story in some way, maybe even letting you play as someone else. It seems like the biggest DLC is going to be an arena type thing(not my cup of tea personally).

P.S.: If anyone wants to do co-op, my PSN is Zoidberg747. Now that I beat most of the game it might be fun to do co-op night hunter stuff.

I'm playing this again now that I finished some other games. at one point I realized how the weapons and crafting were exactly like dead island. it was at a point where a side quest hd me go to a warehouse with three spitters. annoying because the game is mostly centered around mêlée and the ranged weapons throw it off. but I got ever it and am really liking it again.

Has anyone else played the be the zombie mode? I'm getting my ads kicked a lot. I did better at one point just after I got uv block and antiuv bombs, but that didn't last long. its like they didn't want the zombie to be too strong, so you're only hope is pounce but its so easy to be interrupted. and once you're in uv light its very hard to get away, and you get killed in two hits. Any tips? surprise would work but it seems like they always know where I am too.
