KiT was a regional -as it was for all other games there- then GGA, Forever King and other players traveled for and turned it into an Injustice major. Some still see it as a regional, and so what? Does that mean it was free? No.
ECT was just called a regional...did Jupiter come and cried? I don't think so.
It's funny how not calling KiT a major turns into a highly disrespectul thing, yet people here discredit the hell out of Chris G's top 8 placings and major wins, PL's EVOs and tournament placings, CDjr's top 8s in Injustice, KDZ's EVO and major wins ("u only won cuz Superman, bro"), every SonicFox win ''cuz he's so random'', PR Rog placements and what not. Man, you even said Summer Jam 7 was a free tournament because Michaelangelo was the very first Kenshi in top 8 (August of 2011) and not you. According to this site (and you are some of those who started this crusade), VxG was less than a local and doesn't count as a tournament. No matter if 16Bit, Curbo, CDjr, Wafflez, Dizzy, PR Rog, KDZ, PL and Chris G were there. No matter if they traveled to a different country for that. It still doesn't count. Do you see the aforementioned players making threads about it? I haven't.
PL and KDZ don't get props for fucking EVO first place...but somehow KiT being a regional is more offensive?
The double standards in this community are pathetic.
It comes down to the randomness of how the community decides majors. Looking through the pools of both tournaments. Both were stacked, both had players who had to travel, both were majors. I'm pretty sure ECT tied the amount of entrants and skill level of KiT. The fact of the matter is I'm not trying to say Defend the North was a regional, because it had a measly 28 entrants. Yeah, ECT had 8 pools and KiT 4, but both could have been 4 or 8 vise versa.
I did make a comment saying about if KiT was a major and this wasn't that was ridiculous, there was no disrespect toward KiT in any way, I just see as these two tournaments close to equals. Honestly, for the amount of entrants, they both weren't far behind Winter Brawl with Inj entrants.
I'm not sure if my comment brought disrespect due to what people think of the skill that was at ECT, but from keeping up with this communtiy's regions and the skill that comes from all of them, ECT and KiT both seem like majors in my book.
Hell, regional or not, KiT had one of the most diverse top 8s there.
KiT top 8: PPJ, Goomba, Pig, Harold, saltface, 16bit, max, king.
All top players, along with other big names who didn't get in. Hell, p2w went 0-2 here.
ECT also had a crazy top 16, we had 2 canadian players, one making top 8.
Traveling was at both tournaments, I just feel like this was bias when they said ECT was a regional when we had this discussion tons of times about KiT. KiT was a major. ECT was a major.
But screw it, Evo and MLG are coming up. We have bigger fish to fry than arguing whats a local or not.
