DOOM: The Dark Ages

I have to say I’m not missing glory kills like I thought I would. They would obliterate the pace. They were necessary in eternal to give you a micro second breather to plan your next move and were still novel in 2016. Hugo Martin said he wanted to recreate the vibes of the scene in 300 where Leonidas breaks formation and is going from one guy to the next.

The discourse around glory kills is pretty amusing to see so many comments online upset that they're gone when I remember people getting upset when they were introduced in 2016. Literally seeing phrasing like "glory kills are the heart of Doom", lol.

I think forced RT is going to be good for games in the long run, just with massive growing pains for a looong time.

I guess you could bump up player damage taken, reduce damage you do to enemies and increase the speed of enemy projectiles a bit to make it a bit tougher.
So I've been playing with max enemy projectile speed since about chapter 2 (on 13 now) and they still seem kinda slow tbh. I turned it up at first just because I was bored of waiting for the green fireballs to reach me.

Honestly, anyone who likes their games even sorta tough should just go straight to Nightmare.
Feels about the same as Ultra-Violence in Eternal. For context I haven't gotten far in my Nightmare run for Eternal. Didn't finish Nightmare on 2016 yet either.

Overall I think Parry Doom is pretty fun and I also like that it stands with the other two, like a Doom version of the Cornetto Trilogy.

I'm kinda whatever about the mech and dragon sections, though. They're... fine?
Definitely wouldn't miss them if they suddenly vanished tomorrow.

I’m doing my first playthrough on ultra violence but I probably should have done nightmare. It’s more equivalent to hurt me plenty on eternal. It’s similar to 2016, although I found the early game in 2016 to be kinda hard and it gets easy once you’re fully powered. Eternal just kinda gets to the point where you have to be good to beat it on higher difficulties past a certain point so it just becomes a constant escalation.

Eldriken

Life was wasted on you.
It was fun for a bit, but the overall gameplay loop just doesn't suit my tastes, I reckon. I liked the mechanics and everything, but they feel like they would get stale before long.
