Doctor Fate Matchup Discussion

So far in matchups where you get outzoned (darkseid, deadshot, ivy, maybe firestorm) I've found it helps to not bring more than one ankh out. Also MB fireball kinda sucks against other zoning chartacters since a trade will result in only one or two of the fireballs coming out. If you have to go in, ur going to want to be in trait with one ankh so you can cover ur MB roll with the ankh, then apply the pressure this chartacters isn't capable of.

So I'm struggling with Deadshot and Brainiac. Deadshot I feel may be a legit bad matchup, I just know nothing about Brainiac. Any matchup where he has issues getting an orb out is automatically gonna be frustrating imo. Covering mb roll with ankh is good shit, I wish I had thought about that.

I'm platinum mad!
I feel like any match in which Fate has to approach the opponent is likely a losing one. Case in point, zoners like Deadshot and Cyborg.

i havnt played against a cyborg yet, doesnt seem to be many floating about.
i know its really early so talking about who he loses to now etc bit weird but atm personally i do think superman, blackadam and maybe aquaman/supergirl has potential to be losing mus.
heard deadshot said by a around if he gets the life lead and abuses blue bullets its a bitch i know that haha

air dash character or those who can counter zone diagonally i feel give him problems, obviously aswell if u can punish f2~push that a big swinging point for a mu

besides using swamp thing im def having the most fun using fate so i see me sticking with him whatever may come

I use to think that Fate lost to any character with air mobility but that's not the case. Although it may be a tougher match up due to your main projectiles not being as viable, but don't forget about your ankhs. If you're up against a character that likes to stay in the air you need to keep your ankhs out as much as possible. Once all are out you will have to make a read then launch them while your opponent is airborne, the pillar will knock them out of the air and you can either go for a set up or go for your breath of Life to gain the life lead. Just something I thought I'd share because I don't see Fate players doing it.

I'm going to make Fate top ten
Biggest problem. Supes MU is it worth playing or just pick a different character

You have that the wrong way around.

Dr. Fate makes Cyborg & Deadshot come to him via the healing orb.

If your not using it your playing the MU completely wrong. The whole point of healing orb is to counter zone characters that "outzone" him.

I feel like he loses to Deadshot if he doesn't have Air Amon Ra Blast. It's not only annoying to try and counterzone Deadshot, but at a point it gets impossible, what with his low bullets. And then you have the fact thaat he has so much pushback, and his superstar normals, Fate would have a hard time fighting them imo.

I think Fate definitely loses to Superman and Supergirl. I'm struggling with Arrow, Blue Beetle, Darkseid, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Atrocitus, Deadshot, and Black Adam. I'm not saying those are definitely losing, Superman and Supergirl are the only ones I'm certain of thus far, but I definitely am not having success vs those others right now. I am getting a lot better in the Deadshot matchup though, healing orb and using trait strictly for winning full screen trade wars, and forgetting displacer orb exists helps.

I think he beats Robin and Swamp Thing. He for sure beats more but once again, those are the only ones I'm sure of. He feels pretty comfortable against everyone but the 10 I mentioned above. (I reserve the right to change my opinion, it's still early)

I really struggle against Superman. He just backs up and does his flying eye beams that go diagonally across the entire map. It's monstrously annoying and forces Fate to giv eup the one thing he does: zone.

Have to say it irritates me they've designed Superman like this. Most of the characters do one thing, he does several. he can zone and he can rushdown and bully. I don't think he shoudl have all those tools.

At least I'm not the only one that knows. Thank the heavens.

Beware my power.
Black Adam is tough since Dr Fate is outmatched in zoning, damage, rushdown, footsies, safety, plus frames, etc.

Black Adam is better than Fate in every area, but that's more of a Black Adam issue than Doctor Fate

I'm gonna say that Batman is his worst matchup; He ducks all projectiles unless fullscreen, Bats keep you in check and make Glyph unsafe, you can't anti air his j2 up close, he does more damage, always has more bar, and his backdash let's him out of like everything.

I'm seriously thinking this is an 8-2 maybe a 7-3. Its just so bad.

struggling to see how black adam loses in zoning, he does the up lightning to your bolt, and even if it trades he gets the knockdown one, what do we do?
