A good mileena will destroy a good scorpion almost every single time.

Basically anyone that is equally ranker in the tier list or above the character you want to counterpick works.

Eventhough Reptile and even Baraka can be good fun, in the end those two are pretty much worthless in high level play.

Thanks man. I actually figured it out right after you left. I do it differently. I use the analog stick with the d-pad, but I will try out your way later tonight.

There is already a topic, albeit a very old one, about this. I'd almost as soon rather not see this discussion brought up again because the type of assholes who get off on counterpicking will print it out and keep it next to them when playing.

Well, if I pulled up an old thread, I'd probably get bitched at for doing it. I figured it would be cool to talk about strategy here against counterpicks.

Yea I would love some advice against counter pickers. It would be very helpful for "unseasoned" players like myself.

Against Liu kang counter pickers always do a standing block unless he is close so you can punish his special kicks, then you basically have to time his fireballs.. dont make the mistake of always jumping into his jump back air fireballs.

Against jax counterpickers you have to get in his grill and keep the pressure on. If he gets full screen he has the advantage.

Against Sub zero/scorpion counterpickers, don't jump into his roundhouses! especially if he's looking for it. if he's being a turtle get more health than him and back off and turtle yourself until he starts to play.

Against mileena counterpickers, just watch the sais. crouch block telekicks then hk if you have trouble punishing them.

for raidens you can punish supermans by crouch blocking and then instantly doing a forward jump kick, this is how I win most of my matches against him with reptile or baraka. If there's lag and they dont come out fast enough you just gotta beat him at mind games.

Do all of you TRUE Mortal Kombat Players (no two-faced elites) consider counterpicking good games? I personally don't especially if they own you badly. I decided to play MK2 today to see wats up. And to no surprise, these assholes I met years ago are still alive and kicking (probably under other accounts.) Not naming names but, who's a pro at counterpicking, a particular person? When I battle online I never seem to care what their psn is so I forget to add them here. But, this one dude counterpicked the whole time like if that's the only way he can win a game. The lobby.. what else do you expect, lol? Here's who I picked and 'he' countered:

(Me) - Liu Kang (Opponent) Jax
(Me) - Jax (Opponent) Mileena
(Me) - Mileena (Opponent) Raiden

Amazingly he streaked me 8 with those counters. A smart person indeed.. like I said, I don't quit (that soon.) After that bs, I did. I don't consider those ggs even if I'd win most of them. Just cheap in my opinion. Not trying to sound like a saint, yes I can be an ass about picking jax most of the time but, that's all I do in the lobby. I don't have multiple accounts, I don't taunt, turtle or send hatemail. If your in my friends list I random. That's about it.. rant over lol.

don't look at a bunch of rules, raven--there are no rules. any player can beat another player on a level playing field, i.e., the original arcade machine. however, since we play online--where lag is prevalent--we have to make due with whatever skill we have. so, instead of studying a bunch of counter-pick rules, just play, play, play until you get good.

This is the truth.

Many times people online counter pick me, it isn't even with the best available counter pick, just seems to be whoever they feel best with to take down who I picked.

After a little of that, I make them pick first. And if it turns into a gay fest of who picks first, I fucking leave.

Play with people on your friends list.... or basically just don't play with assholes like that. Like they aren't even willing to go straight random, or take turns, then they are just a straight up [ban incoming].

If you only prefer 1 or 2 characters though, it can then be understandable to always pick second. You should be able to tell who is being gay or not though.

I honestly don't care if my opponent counter-picks.. It doesn't bother me at all, win or lose. What annoys me is when they play the same character over and over again, and never pick anyone else. It's so boring.

This is what I think is the bullshit too. Sometimes you can tell they are getting their practice on but it's still annoying.
