Character to handle Jax's bad match-ups

My sparring partner is a Jax main and he needs a character to offset his bad match-ups.
He plays a defensive/balanced style and has played his character since day one. I think he should pick up Kenshi, but maybe you guys know something I don't.

kenshi is almost perfect for backing up Jax. Only problem is the Lao MU

I thought Jax beat Kung Lao. Low hit box, insane anti-air, uppercut, solid zoning and total shutdown of Lao's teleport.

I used to think so too until I started playing better Lao's, you can't REEEALLLY Zone him. It's true you can shut down tele's pretty well, but KL doesn't really need them. Also spin just fucks with too many of the better parts of Jax's game. A lot of his pokes, block strings and setups can get blown up by it. If you can get him to the corner things get better for you though.
