This weekend TGS brought back our infamous sponsorship tournament series, where we send winners to majors. We wanted to give the areas best a chance to travel and compete with other scenes. 4 games were held and 4 winners will be going to TFC on us! Locals took Sm4sh and Ultra while travelers came in to win a chance for themselves. In GG our boy from NC came up and in MK we saw KevoDaMan come down from the city of ravens. Most of sova's best came in with 6 travelers to compete for our spot at TFC. Even though most of us are going, we want to give everyone a shot. Coming down are KevoDaMan, xxDark, The Magician, Take$$$, Orochi, and Deathra K. SOVA's house was partially defended with 6 out of the top 8 but as a whole the house was not defended.
Majors upsets were had all over this tournament. Salt flew, rivalries were renewed, and scores were settled. Early on we saw local TYM hero Virtiqal put Take$$$ into losers in round 2 and the biggest upset no one saw coming Quiet Storm upsets Orochi into losers in round 1! Early rounds of losers there were micro upsets with K-west getting a win over Deathra with war god kotal! Didn't even know he played the game. Vegeta over dark horse Quite Storm. Then, the monster tear from Orochi the fallen God. After losing his first round this man channeled his inner injustice champion and tore through the brothers Grimm with Take$$$ first then the round after The Magician, sending them home. High on a murderous rage Orochi found himself in top 8, awaiting him, the prince if f*#ing saiyans. Pride on the line, fresh out of the hyperbolic time chamber, Vegeta stood there. Broken ass DLC in his wing, a Senzue bean or two in hand, the battle commenced. Like a full 4 episode battle out of the show, both struck blows, 1-1, but only one can make it out alive. Vegeta revealed under his hat was the mark of the Majin, and blew Orochi away, nothing left but the pebbles left from tremors stones. By now the stream started,in losers we saw close fights between the likes of Blackula v YAMS in a close hard battle and Quiet Storm giving Mr Aquaman a run for his money.
First on stream, was the fight of the night, what everyone in the building wanted to see once the bracket was forged in the rigality of Atlantis. Gimpy v The Magician - The Cassie Mirror. The lead up, The Brothers Grimm, sure that Magician was the superior Cassie, on the other side, SOVA, knowing there was no one safer or EX Flip kicking asser than Gimpy. The build, the hype, and the delivery, Magician struck first, names reversed on stream as to add to the surprise. Gimpy looked lost, contemplating missles, or even his day 1 shotgun Jackie, god knows. He then looked to the sky, and in the toss of breath saw a light, no one else in the room saw, but Gimpy, he saw it. He looked back down and at the screen, the light showed him the way, he too could be plus, he too could anti air with a flick of da wrist, and he went right back in the mirror. From the start gimpy controlled the entire match, anti airing, armoring, and EX nutpunching him straight into game 3. The light never faded as The Magician tried to get Gimp off of him falling back to EX nut punches, clutch blocks by gimpy saw Magicians health erase from time and space. SOVA exploded and Gimpy stood tall, the victor. Next round we saw 2-0's as Kevo takes out yams and Gimp beats his rival and teammate Mr Aquaman 2-0. (Closest 2-0 that can be, damnit) Avenging his 3 losses in the past 2 weeklies.
In losers Blackula and Vegeta tore though the competition until they ran into the 2 waiting. TGS boys Yams and Mr Aqua won convincing 2-0's over them setting up a match between them. YAMS then gets button bullied out of the tournament. In winners finals Gimpy dismantles Kevos buzzsaw lao to earn his spot in grand finals. Losers side of things a clash of titans begun with armor blows been Kevo and Aquaman. Each match closer than the previous, with Kevo emerging victor 2-1. GRAND FINAL HYPE. Kevo picked Kitana and threw some fans. 3-1 3-1.
