Don't worry. Both continue until 24 episodes so it has a lot of chances to pick themselves back up. Just look at animes like Guilty Crown and Samurai Flamenco where the first half is really shit but afterwards becomes really good.

I heard that Samurai Flamenco got crazy at episode 7.

Cowboybebop is a good one because it has a distinct rockabilly/jazz western feel to it where the vast majority of themes are japanese pop/pop-rock (which I tend to not care for). One thing I noticed though is the utter lack of dubstep themes. Does Japan not do dubstep?
