"Balloon Fight" on NES/Arcade (VS) STRATEGY and TACTICS [Updated]

Balloon Fight is one of the best fighting game I have ever played even if it's suppose to be a cooperative game!

Here is a GOOD example of a high level match

Me and Claudz play Mario Bros (not Super Mario Bros) the same way (as a fighting game). Here are examples of strategy and tactics (very fun)

Claudz is a very talented Balloon Fight player. He is very dangerous in top-screen battles. His rushdown is great too.
Thoses games are casuals and we had controller issues here and there. If one of you want to play, just tell me.

I was almost waiting for someone to jump out and say APRIL FOOLS! I can see how it could be pretty fun though. I might have to find the rom and have a go

It's not an april fools!! I'm not TOO serious about this game but fighting in Balloon Fight is very very fun and takes skills. If anyone want to give it a try for fun, Claudz and I will probably play this game again tonight (we play almost every week end). Just tell me and we can set up matches on Kaillera.

Balloon fight is a (much slower) NES clone of Joust.
If you want a crazy fuckin game, try Joust 2, you can morph into a Pegasus

I've played Joust a lot and it's a great game. It's the game that started it all (Balloon Fight and Mario Bros). The thing is that it's not as great as Balloon Fight for fighting. It's possible to turtle to an extreme and there are really cheap tactics like hiding below platforms that takes no skills. I still play it but usually with rules.

In Balloon Fight, there are level-based tactics and the game dynamic switch when one of the player has only one balloon left because that player will want to kill enemies to go to the bonus round to get his 2 balloons back while the other player will try to prevent this.

At Balloon Fight (NES or Arcade) the average player doesn't even stand a chance against the elite player. I'm not sure if we can say this of Joust.
