Austin area, TX - Keep Austin Fighting

After lots of searching, it seems to me that the FGC in Austin, Tx is very small or just unorganized. I've not found a single place where meetups occur. Lack of an Austin thread might be further evidence of that.

while the atx fgc is not super active, we do have a Facebook group, and we have some good players in multiple games.
however, we have not had too much organization of MKX, so it's good to see you guys start it up.

but we do have a couple of meetups: USF4 tourneys every week at Arcade UFO on Tuesdays (starting at 7:30pm)
Flame Ice hosts anime game meetups at his place on Sundays https://www.facebook.com/groups/1478943759046918/
and the very generous Rob Nava hosts stuff at his place, but is currently renovating his setup.

note; Arcade UFO will have ~5 PS4 setups with MKX by the end of May. It's taking a while to set up the controller situation in the cabs.
til then, I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys will do.

also note; i've been to dragon's lair and it's tight. but i didn't see the event page for MKX tourney on the ATX FGC facebook page so i missed it. Really, most of the FGC in Austin is already in that group, so it's a good outlet for advertising your events.

Duly noted. Thanks. Yes we should've advertised in that group. I'm just not an active Facebook user so I hardly snoop around in there but it was definitely a missed opportunity. We'd like to do more MKX locals more often, especially when the game is still very new and we need a lot of match up and variation experience. The online matching is also terrible and it's flooded with casual players just spamming so it's not a good place to practice either. I really like to do something on May 9th, which happens to be to be the same weekend as TX showdown for those who cannot make it. Is any one interested in participating in a local that day?

I'm not sure yet. The place we originally went has not gotten back to us yet (they're also free). They're also packed on Saturdays with a bunch of people playing tabletop card games. The other place I went to costs a few bucks to occupy a station. We were planning on doing a local there but if we don't attract enough people to play, then it doesn't make too much sense yet either financially. I'm in talks with both places. I think if we can get 20+ people to come who are committed, then we can do the paid venue because it's a lot more comfortable with better equipment for about $3-5 each person.

Hey guys. The moderator of the FB group is a little upset about the different MKX group from the FGC group.

I have some ideas for how to organize your stuff within the group, but could you guys try to merge your posts w/ the FGC group to prevent further separation?

-going to message you guys on FB actually-

Thanks everyone for coming out to Dragon's Lair on 5/9. I'm going to upload the recordings as soon as I can. The audio is off-sync by about half a second, so please be patient while I try to re-sync the audio track. We'll keep you posted on the next event!

You can also add me on psn, or meet up after work for casuals.

In OBS, if you go to Settings->Audio->Mic Sync Offset then you can correct for that for future recordings. Took me a while to experiment but now my a/v sync is perfect.

It's tough with the Elgato, because the amount of delay varies depending on how much processing the Elgato needs to do to compress the stream enough to send it over USB. Sometimes a buffer gets built up and the delay grows or shrinks with it. I think the problem here is that the actual game audio got out of sync, though... which is really weird.

The Konsole Master tourney was awesome! It was a nice venue and with fresh bbq!! It was a small turn out but maybe the next one will be bigger.
