After lots of searching, it seems to me that the FGC in Austin, Tx is very small or just unorganized. I've not found a single place where meetups occur. Lack of an Austin thread might be further evidence of that.

Let's keep Austin fighting! If you are in the Austin area, list what games you play and your online handles. If enough people enlist with similar interests maybe we could schedule occasional gatherings.

Hey RyuuJin,

I have a meetup this Saturday on 4/25 for a casual and quite possibly a mini-tournament in NW Austin if enough people show up. The location should be good, but I just need the manager of the place to confirm with me. I'll let you know when I get the green light. I also know a few guys that are pretty serious fighting gamers so we can up our game.

I'm one of the other guys DaZengie was talking about. I'm in south Austin, but don't have a problem heading north for most events. I'll be co-hosting the MKX meetup on Saturday, and if all goes well hopefully we can do them more regularly going forward!

How did the event go? Unfortunately I missed it but I really hope to make the next one I just moved here and some folks to play with offline so where can I go to stay updated on future events in Austin?

Hey Austin peeps, I'm in san Antonio, and we have a pretty decent community growing here (6-7 very solid players, loads of casual players). If y'all ever want to come down we mainly play at ultra arcade.

Also, if y'all have tournaments up there let me know and I'll see about bringing up some SA guys for tournament and maybe a 5v5 exhibition or something. I'll also let y'all know when we're doing something down here. We're neighbors, so it's not too much for us to drive to each other and get some matches in. Let's help both of our scenes grow :D

The event was a total success! We ran a perfectly smooth tournament across both PS4 and XB1, recorded some of the matches (hopefully we'll post highlights soon), and most importantly we all had a great time meeting each other and playing. We'll be planning another one soon. The best place to get updates is on the meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Austin-Fighting-Games-Meetup). We'll post there as soon as we have the next event scheduled.

I know Facebook is a popular choice for other FGCs, but personally I like meetup more. I think a meetup is more discoverable regionally, and less insular. Having said that, I think @DaZengie is planning on making a Facebook page and I'm guessing we'll probably end up using a bit of both. I just want to make sure we're welcoming to newcomers and keep the community growing.

I'll create a FB page tonight. And sorry for the late response. Yes the event went pretty well. Unfortunately, we're still new to running a tournament. Having to play and run and plan take a lot of time and energy. The finals/grand finals recording wasn't good...the file got corrupted and I'm unable to repair it. We found some good players from this meetup. We plan on hosting another one soon once we secure a place and time.
