I really hope Ashrah makes it. I saw this fanart a while ago on reddit where she was redesigned as this angelic/demonic warrior and thought it would be really cool to have her light powers and demonic side explored with new technology
This is one of the things I want most with her being in the franchise again. Outside of Kotal's sunlight powers, we don't have anyone with light powers. Would be a really neat addition to the MK cast of cool ability types. That, and she wouldn't have to be a Kung Lao pseudo-ripoff anymore.

I mean look at this:rolleyes:
I'm afraid I don't like that redesign at all. What made her so appealing to me was beautifully steeped in Shinto mythology she was, looking like she'd stepped straight out of the parchment paper of an emakimono handscroll.

That to me looks far too western and generic, like some gothic seductive vampire who belongs on a Cradle of Filth album cover. That rids everything that was beautiful, graceful and mystical about her. Ashrah felt like a shining beacon of MK1's classic Asian influences at a time when the franchise was becoming far too grungey, cheesy and Western 'heavy metal' in its sensibilities, which was why she stood out to me so much.

I loved her exactly how she was and should she ever return I hope she doesn't lose any of her Eastern poise:

This 100%. The other design was terrible and missed the point of what the character was.

She was the first character in the game to not try to be "sexy" and instead followed mythology.

All that and she was super fun to play!

All very good points, but the skimpy parts of the outfit wasn't what I was referring to. I personally really liked the crown, gold embellishments, veil, light sword, and overall contrast between angel/demon. The outfit in general could definitely be covered I agree, as I also really enjoyed how Ashrah's original design went the opposite direction from the rest of the MK girls at the time.

Ehh looks more Sindel than Ashrah to me. This design is my favorite fanart of Ashrah, the artist also gave her a black P2 version.

I like that one too, though I think it's a little overdesigned. I really like the horns on the hat and the demon arm. There's so much cool potential with this character. I really like this art too.

Because they're irredeemable .

They really weren't and this was the poorest performing period of the franchise's life. Midway went bankrupt due to many factors as they made more than just Mortal Kombat games, but the 3D era is not a high point for the franchise in any way, shape, or form.

I know you love them, and that's cool, but what you say and what the reality was is quite different.
Bullshit.

I'll take Havik/Hotaru/Sareena/Quan Chi/Shinnok/Fujin/Nitara over Nightwolf/fucking Stryker/Jax/Sonya any day of the week.

I know you would. We'll see what happens, of course, but history shows we'll get a small number of 3D era characters (Deadly Alliance through Armageddon), about 1-2, and a larger number of guest characters, more than 5.

This is simply the reality based on the development and rosters of the franchise for the last decade.

Another reality: Guest characters will sell far better than 3D era characters.

It does warm my heart to see more outcry for 3d era. Most of them are as bad as they are cause they only got one game to develop, in an era where they had to pump out games to keep midway alive since that was the only seller they had. Of course they're gonna seem worse than the OGs. Yeah there were a couple of duds who would need a lot more work than others, but that goes for 2d too. The roster the past 3 games have just been so uninspired. Like imagine Mavado web slinging all over the arena, Ashrah summoning the souls of the demons she has slain to fight for her, Havik pulling a Ms. Fortune and his head attacking the opponent while his body closes in. Those sound a lot more interesting to me than woman with drone, cybernetic man with knives, and man with cyber arms who punches hard and shoots

Do you guys think Onaga has a chance to be MK12's villain? I love him as much as Shang and Shao Kahn, and he has a LOT of potential, lore-wise.

I think the chances are pretty good.

After Kronika i feel like they want to go with a familiar boss again and not go with another Titans (yet?).

We had our fill of Shao, Shinnok and Shang with the NRS Trilogy and Onaga is the only big bad left to revisit.

I doubt we see Blaze anytime soon since he is too much tied to the event of Armageddon and MK11 was essentially Time Armageddon anyway.

I'm still sad we didn't get Havik in a game with X-Rays because it would be cool for him to do his X-Ray attack on himself instead of the opponent. What a missed opportunity. I guess if Krushing Blows come back, he can KB himself for extra life gain or something.

I think MK12's story could be something like "Liu Kang reseted the timeline, but since he has no complete mastery of Kronika's Crown, some unpredictable events occur, such as Onaga returning from the dead just after the great Kung Lao defeats Goro in the MK tournament." Or something like that.

I wanna hear your theories on how the story will go this time.

Onaga a villain? What are you chaosrealmers talking about?

He was the greatest Emperor Outworld ever had. He was just and fair. He had order!!

I know you are joking but I recall reading somewhere that he was ACTUALLY a good emperor before being usurped by Shao Kahn, and that he resisted the One Being's influence for many years. I think it was the backwards dialogue from the Konquest NPCs in chaosrealm or netherrealm that said that. Then after ages he ressurected and carried out the One Being's desire to merge the realms, ironically.

Yeah i agree that the MK12 story will be dealing with familiar events altered as consequences of Liu Kangs interference.

NRS is usually building a story around the roster they picked.
MK12 will be a continuation of MK11 what most likely means we finally get to see and play as the Great Kung Lao.
Ed teased that we gonna see more 3D characters soon.
I doubt they gonna totally abandoned all the NRS Era characters and Kombat Kids.

With all that in mind i hope we gonna see a story that starts with the Great Kung Lao vs. Goro tournament but this time with Liu Kangs help he is gonna defeat Goro and becomes Earthrealms champion until we catch up with present time.

In present time through Liu Kangs actions Shao Kahn never murdered Onaga and a Outworld ruled by Onaga are on the ropes since Great Kung Lao (not aging as champion) and our usual good guys are on a winning streak.

Enter Havik. He does not want the order that Liu Kang tries to achieve with a non threating Outworld and helps Onaga to turn the tide and bring Chaos.

Also would be cool if they remember that Li Mei won the Deadly Alliance tournament and try to make her Outworlds Liu Kang. Would be cool to see a female champion. And lets get Michelle Yeoh to play her.

With this you can have the Great Kung Lao, the OGs, 3D characters and NRS Era characters.
A roster with "only characters that lived in the past" would that NEVER happen and everybody knows that.

Irrelevant to what we were talking about, but ok.

And MK12 (if it's even called that) we'll have 5-8 3D era characters (counting Quan Chi and Kenshi and possibly Tanya in there) once all DLC is done with.

If people want to see how fucking invigorating the 3D era characters will look and feel once redone in MK12, they only need to look at Fujin.

That's all? Like....Kenshi, Quan Chi, Tanya (who were there before like Fujin and Bo'Rai Cho) and then just a couple more from which we are sure of Reiko and Havik? So what's the new stuff?

Just 5-8 from the 3D era? Say one of Nitara/Sareena/Ashrah/ Li Mei makes it in. It negates the other 3. No Onaga as boss? No Red Dragon members? (Like Ed Boon hinted). Can't even hope for likes of Drahmin and Moloch?
