The issue isn't "We didn't save up for the event". My mind is blown that people keep jumping to that conclusion. What happened here is a case of allocated money from a sponsorship source where the release of the money MAY BE DELAYED past Evo, effectively rendering it useless for getting us there. So the money allocated for Evo exists, and is 100% coming, but the time is an issue.

So this donation drive is less about giving us money, and more about helping us get to EVO, then you getting your money back if you choose to.

It should have been called a "loan" drive. However, if nobody you know personally will float you a few hundred bucks until you get paid after EVO, then the community should find such a loan suspicious.

It's true that people, possibly myself included, are being a bit pissy over something that really doesn't concern us. That said, this whole thing seems a bit fishy. And though half the people here wouldn't mind taking donations to get to EVO, most people are probably opposed to asking for them.

I agree totally that shit happens. With that said we knew about EVO for multiple months. If people can't put money aside with that much notice for some just in case type funds then I really don't have any sympathy.

I really don't understand the 'sometimes shit happens even when you put money aside' argument though when this is not just happening to a few players it is happening to a much larger number relying on EMP funds, right?

The issue is way less putting aside money, and way more the fact that it happened a week before Evo.
Like I said, if we were told even a week earlier, this issue wouldn't exist.

I totally hear you about the timing, which is terrible for all of the players involved. My argument with THTB was more focused on him saying that everyone should know that they are not a sponsor. My point is that if they are not a sponsor then maybe they should not be relied on like one.

If the community wants to chip in and make it so that there is more competition at EVO, I say its a good idea. What says that they dont have jobs already?

Last year TYM did the same thing for me & UFG, I know for sure I broke my bank to go to EVO.

Sometimes the best player shouldn't be decided by the amount of money they have in their pockets before a tournament. KDZ is one of the few players in this game that I actually believe is skillful enough to be worth sending to EVO.

There isn't even a goal set on the donations which makes things seem suspicious. Were supposed to believe that somehow the people who were incapable of keeping their word when it comes to sending players to EVO will keep their words when it comes to reimbursing donators?

How much money is needed to get each player to evo?
Which players have priority on the money if we only net enough to send one player?
How much money is a round trip flight for each person?
