Key Input Language

This is a very noob question but, I see people posting inputs for kombos on the forums and they use stuff like -> F+2, 1; 2, DF1; 4, BB2; JK, DF1; DF1; 4, DF2.

Can someone break that down for me? Like F, D, etc?

F=forward D=down B=back U=up 1=front punch 2=back punch 3=front kick 4=back kick. Hopefully this helped.
