The CEO13 Good Games & Shoutouts Thread (MK9 and Injustice)

GamerBlake90

Blue Blurs for Life!
Much like our traditional GGS threads for matches that occur on Playstation Network and Xbox Live, this is the place to acknowledge any matches you've had with your opponents at this year's CEO. This can also double as a shout-outs thread. :)

Primarily this will concern matches for MK9 and Injustice (as indicated in the thread title), but if you wanna reference matches that happened in different games, feel welcome to. No harm in that.

Right, so first, my shout-outs to the MK9 players. GGS to:

GGA 16 Bit - I think it's only right that I start with him, as we had NEVER squared off during the two long years of MK9's life and only when we met at the venue did we resolve to fight it out at Room 707. To have played one of the most established members in the GGA crew is an extremely rare privilege and I only regret we didn't get to play more than like...five or six matches, but chances will come as time progresses. I admit I got destroyed (there really isn't much Scorpion can do in a 3-7 against Kitana, let alone the best Kitana in the world, what can I say?), but I don't think any less of those great matches...too bad I didn't get to show him my Raiden. Regardless, GGA is known as one of the world's strongest crews for a very good reason - if not the strongest - and I got my first taste of that. Good job placing top four in MK9 alongside Carl, Gross, and Wafflez...and thanks for helping to provide an epic commentary!

Wafflez - I simply find it ironic that after getting nailed by that sneaky-ass X-ray set-up from Glass Sword's Smoke, you go and surprise Pig with it on stream! You likely overheard how apeshit crazy Steve and I went after it happened. You fought your heart out and deserved your third-place win, good stuff! Also like with Steve, that was the first time I ever got to play you and you were far from a disappointment. If only we got to play more. :(

SomeCubanGuy - you say you've barely played, so why did that Baraka drive me nuts like he always does?! Man, you're full of it. :D Nice matches, brother. I'm certain you're stirring up quite a storm in Injustice.

AK Pig Of The Hut - how is it we met so often at tournaments and never got to play in bracket matches until just this weekend?! Fate works in strange ways. You say you are rusty, but that Kenshi has always kept me on my toes and he continues to do so. I don't regret using my Scorpion in this tournament at all due to how amazing the matches were. Stay classy, bro.

Kitana Prime - looks like we're even now. I defeated you in the MK9 tournament and you defeated me in the Injustice tournament. Fair is fair. Definitely listen to Steve's advice on the Scorpion match-up, you looked a bit uncertain about yourself. In spite of that, you've been valuable competition and I expect you to continue leveling up.

Kyle Rayner - a new training partner alongside me. Believe me when I tell you that your footsies have stepped it up the more you've played me. I know it is always more fun to play a rushdown style rather than a zoning style, but as Cyusstrike would agree, coordination is key. Both sides will need to be drawn upon to prolong your survival in tournaments, or else you'll be little better than a raging bull. Stick with that Sub-Zero and continue to follow Marcell's tutelage. He'll bring you great things. And as I said over the phone, thanks for the help you've given me in regards to entering CEO.

AK cyusstrike - I just mentioned you in the above shout-out. Though a ton of us complain about Killer Frost's slide - I had to say it :p - never let that deter you from using her. And make sure Kyle doesn't get too far off-track in his training, won't you? ;) Good seeing you again, keep Atlanta strong, and thanks for the late-night matches. This fight will not be our last.

AK Glass_Sword - as Pig told me on stream, you're officially ranked as Iron Sword and may well be on your way to Steel Sword. I still cannot get over the huge margin of improvement you've undergone ever since we first played around 1.5 years ago, when I first tried to get you into the Crazy 88's after detecting potential in you. Now, you have a strong case for being regarded as the Smoke of America. I don't find it easy to adapt to you anymore; I'm constantly digging in my bag of tricks looking for ways to surprise you...a strong contrast to how you originally played as a novice. This is not ass-kissing, this is a fact. Stay dedicated. It's what I admire the most about you. Lastly, thanks for letting me borrow your converter when I needed it. I gotta get my own sooner or later.

MeZMeRiZe - great to have finally met you after talking on FaceBook for a while (you helped me with advice on learning Kung Lao, as I recall, and it proved handy). You gave my Scorpion quite the work-out; the Cyrax and Lao match-ups are VERY uphill for him. Thanks for the matches and stay tough.

NY Chris G - that Reptile, its warpath is without end. Your high level of adaptation never ceases to amaze those who worship your skill. Looks like we've evened it out with one win apiece over each other in tournaments, so we will need a tie-breaker (if you keep playing MK9). Congratulations on winning the Injustice tournament with Green Arrow and may your skill continue to skyrocket!

And GGS to a Cage player I fought on stream after I got knocked to Loser's Bracket by Pig. I cannot quite remember his name, unfortunately. :(

And now...the Injustice shout-outs. Already pointed out Kitana Prime in the MK9 shout-outs, but I will note here that Austin (Glass_Sword) recorded my matches with him and should have them uploaded sometime. Just a fair warning: I hate Harley Quinn, so expect some salt. Also pointed out Kyle and Glass Sword already - their Green Lantern and Wonder Woman, respectively, both eat me alive, I dunno what to dooooo. :( I'm terrible at the game, and those who watched me on my personal stream, as well as at CEO, can attest to this. But...meh.

As for the rest, GGS to:

AK Reno_Racks - one word: Batgirl. I have no fucking answer to her. It's awfully tempting to switch to her seeing as she answers Batman's problems regarding bad wake-ups and zoning, but I don't quite know if I will play her until I sort out my character crisis. As for you, I'm sorry if I did not talk much, but it was a pleasure seeing you again only three months after Final Round. Thanks for letting me borrow your converter as well when Austin's was in use.

REO - Jesus friggin' Christ, that Scorpion. I don't have to say it, but I will anyway: I had no answer. Made me wish I was playing him when he was released, but there is the matter of his incoming patch. :( I know you likely got bored from destroying me, but thanks for giving me some matches all the same, and well done on placing top eight at CEO!

DarthArma - I dismissed any hopes of me coming out of my pool when you came up as my first opponent. Having seen your Batman on stream, I was on alert. I'm actually kinda shocked over having taken a game off of you in the set, but your lightning-fast adaptation resulting in your 2-1 win quickly dashed my spirits into pieces. Definitely a force to be reckoned with in EMP. Crazy Batman you have.

And good games to a Solomon Grundy player and a Nightwing player I faced in pools before losing to Kitana Prime's Harley. Again, I fail to remember their names...

In closing, I want to offer shout-outs to Tom Brady,RDK|GodSpeed, CD jr, Rico Suave, gross, AK Trepound380, Perfect Legend, and everyone else who held it down at CEO. Also shout-outs to the Crazy 88s and to Kombat Houston, especially to Cat for providing me with the means to travel to CEO, for which I am thankful. And we definitely gotta give thanks to CEO Jebailey for working his ass off to give us an unforgettable tournament experience. We owe it all to him and those who worked alongside him.

If I forgot to mention your name, go ahead and put me on blast, I'll have had it coming.

Not to sour the mood, though, but... those hype tournament matches with my MK9 Scorpion against Pig and Chris G were not shown on stream...maaaaaaaaaan! I am more fucking salty about that than having lost in the Injustice tournament! I hope someone recorded those, 'cause if not, people will be missing out. This was the first tournament in which I played only Scorpion, and in spite of some things I wish I could have done differently, I can't say I am not satisfied with how it turned out. I intend to continue using Scorpion in the rest of my MK9 matches, as I am pleased with how he is turning out (and yes, I am using Raiden as well, no worries to my fellow Thunder Gods).

It is a shaky start, but slowly and surely, a Scorpion King will be on the rise...

Now GET THE FUCK OVER HERE and extend your CEO shout-outs as well! :D
