Do you main more females over males in Fighting games? Any Personality Preference?

My blades will find your heart
I never go by gender, always by playstyles. It just so happens that in most games I only play characters of one gender, for whatever reason.

MK9: Baraka, Liu Kang, Ermac, Sindel(Sindel was more of a man than woman, LBSH)

Injustice: Catwoman, Raven, Batgirl, Harley Quinn

SCV: Leixia, Ivy

VF: Jeffrey, Goh, Lau, Wolf

In tekken I usually play a mix, but i suck at the game so I just switch around for fun.

If you believe enough, -7 could be +7

MK9 - Ermac (They chose me, picked because high tier in vanilla :D )
Injustice - Harley (fanboy main...plus my gf wanted me to)
SFIV - Cody (He's dirty, and brings me closer to mk9 with that knife <3 )
Skullgirls - Filia and Ms. Fortune (really though..all girls..lol)
P4A - Labrys (looked badass lol )
Any Tekken game - Hwoarang

normally i like villains but none of the ones in injustice really fit my style

if they're badass they're cool and i'll try em out, doesn't matter whether they have d3h b3wbz or not

Tekken: Eddy Gordo (His lows omfg)
Injustice: Harley (Huge fan ever since forever)
Soul Calibur IV: Kilik (Pimp Cane)
Soul Calibur V: Yoshimitsu (YOOOOOOOOOOO!)
Mortal Kombat: Subzero (I barely play any MK game)
Playstation All Stars Battle Royale: Sly Cooper (Teleport lololololol)
Super Smash Bros: Marth (His parry lol)

MK11 Kabal = MK9 Kitana
I play who fits my playstyle or has a playstyle that I like. It just happens that in most fighting games, that character is female. It has absolutely nothing to do with their personality in the game. She can have a "no-bullshit" attitude like Kitana or be a complete idiot like Sakura lol

MK1 - Sub-Zero (freeze containment)
MK2 - Sub-Zero, Shang (jabs), Reptile (invis), Kitana (damage, sweep, awesome)
MK3 - Sub-Zero, Cyrax (bombs/net/reset/damage)
UMK3 - Sub-Zero, Cyrax, Kitana
MK4 - Scorpion, Tanya
MKG - Scorpion, Tanya, Kitana
MKDA - Sub-Zero, Kitana
MKD - Ashrah (damage/20% throw into resets), Li Mei (standing 2 sword and 100%+ combos), Sub-Zero, Kenshi (zoning, free throws, he's blind and awesome)
MKvsDCU - Sub-Zero, Kitana, Flash (bs character used to compete)
MK9 - Kitana, Kabal, Noob

Injustice - Killer Frost

SF2 (all) - Chun Li, Guile

SF4 - Balrog, Cammy

Tekken Series - Nina, Baek, Alisa (T6 only), Jun (TTT2 only)

Persona 4 - Yukiko (fans lol)

Soul Calibur Series - Ivy

MvC2 (I am a scrub in this game) - Iceman, Guile, Jill

KI 1 - Orchid
KI 2 - Maya

I play girls when they are ninjas, or robots. Where their schtick doesn't come from them being a girl. (Ultra feminism is unattractive in a character.)

However I'll also play characters with a strict sense of order or loyalty.

I typically go for heavy footsie characters and/or grapplers, regardless of gender or charisma

Which one thing really concerns me. How come we don't see any brutish female grappler type characters?
Everything's oversexualized, and gives in to the stereotype that women are weaker.
I don't count Sheeva because her only command grab was situational. The closest you really see anymore are
the "lucha-diva" look from Tekken Tag 2's Jaycee or Street Fighter's R.Mika. Street fighter's Makoto kind of holds this slot down, but she's more about strikes than grappling, since her choke is more of an opener than an "oh shit" grab.

I would love to see an angry female grappler in a game, or at least a bruiser type. If anyone has played the Bloody Roar franchise
I believe her name was Matoko? The mother of the boss character and her animal was a warthog or boar. She got in there
and caved in your skull or just flat out gored you. There was no glitter and cleavage and flips, just brutality.

We need more real women in fighters, not just the jiggly funbags with fists

I forgot to include the non fighting games. *flame shield up :p

-SSBM - Sheik (My tournament level friend who knew his shit beat this character into me...she was the only one I had success with against his Marth)

-SSBB - Ike, Snake, Zero Suit Samus

I tend to make more female characters than male ones in RPGs as well. I give them normal names, with wild hair colors. Chloe, Nami, Lily, etc. My friends have asked me multiple times why I "always" make girl characters, and I still don't have an answer for them. :/

So in Soul Calibur you would play Astaroth, also Ivy from the Soul Calibur Series is surprisingly a grappler.

What little I played SCV I liked Dampierre's footsies and the randomness of his entire moveset.
But on paper, I'd be an Astaroth/Rock main, assuming no Dampierre shenanigans

Had no clue Ivy was technically a grappler. I wrote her off when she was back in the game unchanged because of some loophole of her being immortal by magic or some such

Originally, my fascination with female characters in fighting games started because I like fast characters and those generally were the females. Later, I developed the attitude of "If I'm spending hours upon hours playing this game, I want something nice to look at". I also realized two things as time wore on:

  1. Game devs are more perverted than I am (and that's saying A LOT)
  2. Game devs are smart enough to punish the perverts for being perverts. Generally speaking, the hardest characters to play/learn are the ones with the biggest bewbz.
Having said all that, here's my list of mains over the years.
  • World Heroes - Janne
  • Samurai Showdown - Charlotte
  • SF2 - Chun Li
  • SF2 (later versions) - Cammy, Blanka, Vega
  • MK - Scorpion
  • MK 2 - Kitana, Sheeva
  • MK 4 - Tanya
  • MK9 - Sonya
  • Soul Caliber (all) - Ivy
  • DoA (2, 5) - Helena, Kasumi
  • Virtua Fighter - Pai
  • Virtua Fighter 5 - Sarah
  • SFxT - Poison/Cammy team
  • MvC 3 - She Hulk/Stomr/Chun Li team
  • Killer Instinct - Orchid
  • Injustice - Catwoman

XBL or PSN? Because I might have played your Ivy on SCV.

PSN. I went online a little with SC4 but very early on I realized that online just couldn't keep up with the timing necessary for Soul Caliber (even low-level timings like mine). That and my last match was against this Apprentice user that basically killed me in 2 hits. The first hit was a launcher and the ensuing air kombo did at least 50% damage. 3 more of those and that was the entire match in like a minute. I never went online with SC again.

I'm a literal Sloth
I use females because usually they're more visually appealing, and I find strong females really cool. It doesn't really matter who I play, but I actually look for female characters first (I don't main KF because of this reason, I main her because she's cheap as hell).

Shotguns & Grapplers
I like Grapplers & Heavyweights generally but I usually use female charaters as subs to cover the bad matchups that my grapplers usually suffer.
For example in TTT2 I mainly use Marduk on point with either Zafina or Xiaoyu as backup, in VF I use Goh & Vanessa both as mains, in AE Juri & Bison.
In Injustice I main Lex and am looking at learning either Killer Frost or Raven to counter the annoying runaways.
I guess I'm an equal opportunities fighter lol.
