Wednesday night at southern California's Super Arcade was a bit of a special one. With a lot of FGC personalities in town for E3, players from other areas of the country descended on WNF to test their skills against some of the West Coast's current top players. Although we didn't get to see as much of Injustice's bracket play due to Divekick occupying a slot in the WNF lineup this week, there were a number of exciting matches and meetups between players that don't normally get a chance to play.

In Winners Finals, another west coast Deathstroke player, Immortal Angel, made his way through the bracket to face former WNF champ RDK Godspeed. Godspeed played a patient game and used a lot of Black Adam's zoning to keep Deathstroke at bay, taking Game 1. In the second game, Immortal Angel took a more aggressive approach, attacking with jumping heavies and trying to mix it up in-close, but Godspeed was ready and baited Deathstroke into several big punishes, staying patient and taking the set 2-0.

This set up an exciting Losers Finals meeting between Immortal Angel and EGP Krayzie (Catwoman). Krayzie opened the first game in dominant fashion, looking strong and making good reads against Deathstroke's zoning, but a few costly mistakes in the later part of the match opened up an opportunity for IA to score some quick damage with jumping overheads and steal Game 1. Krayzie came back to take the second game, staying on top of Angel and not giving him much room to breathe. Game 3 was close, with Krayzie taking a lead by mid match, but IA did a great job of controlling space using DS' Sword Flip and was able to shut Catwoman's offense down for the win.

In Grand Finals, Goodspeed looked comfortable the entire way, and used Black Adam's divekick to punish a lot of Immortal Angel's midscreen zoning attempts. The combination of divekick and trait proved to be too much for Immortal Angel, and Godspeed rolled to victory, taking the set 2-0.

Congratulations to kanechump for the win; and to team RDK for notching yet another team victory at WNF.

WNF was once again a World of Dictators -- but despite reports to the contrary, Deathstroke is alive and well.

I hate the nerf this and buff this chats that go on. I really do.

So instead I will make my point with a quote, but I will not say who said this.

"It would be a balanced game without superman black adam and killer frost"

End.

great stuff by godspeed, that's the homie and the terry bros plan on joining RDK!!!!, just to add to the strength of the team. BA is so solid, especially when you get a solid player to use him. Heck at all majors/locals there has been a BA in top 8/winning, will evo be a world of dictators?????

For the record... Black Adam is not a problem for me anymore...

I wish Deathstroke wasn't in my way this week. Grand Finals would of been interesting and fun, that's a promise. Maybe next time, Dustin. Congrats.

I need to figure out DS first.
heck if you need to talk about DS, that is one of my main characters (scorpion is my main now), I could help you out with that MU.

I don't get the allure of BA. I'm guessing he has all the tools etc.b but his playstyle seems so boring. I guess I'm tired of seeing the same characters in tournament games. Superman, BA, Deathstroke. That's all I see with the occasional GL and others. Last night we didn't get to see much because of FOOOT DiIIIIVE! I guess players are going straight to characters that will win you games as EVO approaches rapidly.

Guess what when it this EARLY in a fighting games life your going to be seeing a lot of the same characters dominating. Look when SFIV was first released we saw an overwhelming amount of Sagats. Also yes players are going to be picking the best characters at the moment in tournaments because at tournies your playing to win. That being said it does seem like certain characters are dominating this game and I don't see that changing anytime soon due to the tools they have.

Ill bring up superman very solid zoning game and hes a beast inside which means if your making your way a mistake can be costly. So hes good from far away and great in close now add a special attack that freezes your opponent to extend his combos. Lastly give him a super that goes full screen and goes through projectiles. Those tools alone make him a very strong character.

I still cant believe I lost to a dropped combo >.<
Haha, I feel you man. I wrote about that and gave you props before I realized that what I thought was the end of the tournament wasn't actually the end and there were more matches to play. Here's the original text:

"In the Losers bracket in EGP's Krayzie met WNF regular and commentator Rip (who was sporting a superman cape and matching t-shirt). Krayzie's Catwoman started strong, as Krayzie made his way in at will and made good use of Catwoman's mixup game and her newly-acquired f1 overhead to keep Rip off-guard in close. Rip had a stronger start to the second match, but Krayzie's patient play and whiff punishing secured him the win.

In Top 4 action, RDK Awesomo, playing Black Adam, collected a very confident-looking win over Team sp00ky's Arturo. Spacing Art's green Lantern out to fullscreen and playing a patient game with mostly long-range lightning, safe divekicks and d1 pressure, Awesomo made full use of BA's ranged toolset and stifled GL's offense with his Lightning or the Lightning Cage whenever he got in or scored a knockdown. Although Art fought a more even game in the second match, Awesomo maintained control and held on to take the win.

Next up, Awesomo and Rip met in the Losers bracket. After losing the first game by a substantial margin, Awesomo switched to the Flash. Although it looked like Rip was controlling the spacing and the pace once again, Awesomo began to chip away at Rip's substantial life lead bit by bit, opening him up with frame traps and pulling a last-ditch Real Master comeback to steal the second game. Even the entire way, the third match came down to the last 5% of health, with Rip's back to the corner and things looking bleak for Superman -- but a dropped trait combo and a timely block allowed Rip to close the set out with a Super Move punish, and move on to play EGP Krayzie."

Would you agree that Catwoman has a good matchup against superman? Looks like he can't zone her at all and she has great rushdown once in.
