Tank-Z32TT Ultimate MK9 Combo Guide v1.x

Ok, I put this guide together to help me and others. Insides this PDF is a spread sheet of basic to expert combo's, list of all special abilities, fatalities, and more. So far, it has helped me significantly with Ermac and the other characters in this guide. I think the main reason is because the learning curve is easier due to the fact that I only need to memorize symbols and not letters such as FK, BK, FP, BP. Furthermore, the sheet is printer friendly. Now that I have discovered this site with even more combo's, I will be able to improve this guide even further than before.

So far, Sub-Zero, Cyber Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Ermac are included. More to come as soon as I get some time. Next is Reptile, Noob Saibot, Kitana, Jade.

Feedback + advice is welcome and appreciated.

Enjoy!

Nice effort, but I think certain things should be changed.
- Rather than default button types, I think it is best to use numbers. 1 through 4 is easier to say and remember than FP,BP etc. and circle/triangle doesn't apply to everybody.
- I assume the combo and tier list is based off the official guide. Everyone here knows how awful the guide is and can agree that CSZ for example is not that bad.
- Just list the best combos for certain situations, like off a certain string or anti-air or whatever.

I prefer symbols. I know this doesn't help the XBOX, but I prefer the symbols.

Why is the official guide awful? I mean, I just downloaded a PDF version of it and I like the combos it offers for Ermac.

What is CSZ? Link?

Cyber Sub-Zero. And the guide is awful because it says a 4 hit combo that starts with ice puddle is an expert combo.

What other combo guides would you recommend? I only know of the primas official strategy guide.

You might have to dig around the combo threads because some aren't organized or the combos are found in youtube videos. But anyway, you should be listing the best combos to use in a certain situation for that character. Take Sub-Zero for example. What combo is best if I catch my opponent with an ice ball? What about if they get frozen by an ice clone and they are up in the air? Which preset combos are the best to use in any situation? By doing this, you have a plan to follow and don't have to come up with things on the spot or test whether they work or not. It doesn't even have to be the absolute best combo, just whatever you feel comfortable doing.

I suppose I should rename the spread sheet. It is just a informative combo list. Not really a guide on what to do in every situation. I mean honestly, people will learn in time on how to perform really good combos. The combos I have listed, especially for Ermac are absolutely great.

LMAO. Stopped caring right there.
Um, whats your problem? I only asked because some one mentioned another guide. I mean, I know where other guides are on this site. I just thought he meant there was another 'official' guide. Anywas, like I said, this was just a basic combo guide that I set up before I actually found this forum, so Primas Official guide (which I didn't buy) was my only source, and it has helped me a lot from being a noob to become above average. I hardly lose now in ranked matches. I probably lose 1 out of every 10 matches and its to Raiden.

I reviewed the combos when I got here in the character specific forum and thats 1 of the of main reasons I chose to sign up in this forum. I guess my guide is a joke compared to what you have here, so when I get some time, I will add the new combos and make it alittle more informative.

The official guide(prima) is a joke, if anything it will probably make you a worse player. Lot of those combos are just very impractical, and the offical guide...just delete the PDF, i'll leave it at that.

As for your guide, i'm sorry to say, is not needed, there are better and more comprehensive guides on this forum, more specifically the character forums.
Anyway the combos you listed are impractical for obvious reasons, they do not maximize damage, start from an unsafe/non hitconfirmable string, and you just waste meter with some of those(ending a combo in an enhanced forcelift??...really?) Also hy is everything shown in PS3 inputs, maybe convenient for you but not for xbox players, it isn't universal. Also why list the hits, which is redundant, but not the damage? Also why list the inputs for the moves, and do nothing with it, why don't you say atleast if they are High, Low, Mid(overhead), can be cancelled into, safe on block, can it be broken etc etc?

You obviously like the game for you made that guide, but from what you've shown in that guide and your posts you need to learn alot more before showing other people how to play and giving advise on combos.

It is cool that you want to put the time in for this but with Tom Bradys "living guide" out (i believe it is out atleast) it might be sort of a wasted effort. If you feel any need to do the guide, go ahead, otherwise i'd recommend either getting his living guide and/or using this site. If you at some point feel that you've got a good grasp of the greater part of the knowledge gathered here, and that maybe you know some things that others don't, that would be the time to make a guide.

It could be a good idea to start small, specialize in one or two characters and try to gather as much info as possible. People generally prefer not having to read every post in a thread to find that one line they wanted/needed to read. Besides, it will probably help you improve further if you really look into the less obvious aspects of some characters.
