Players in top of leaderboards

So today I decided to play Ranked matches after no one would accept in player match for some reason (I dont know why people do that). First couple of games went by and I was facing ok players. Then I started coming across players with 1000+ wins. I was excited. Finally some amazing players! I said. Well, it wad the opposite. These players where horrible. I played a few people with real high records.
This got me thinking, are all these "top" players bad?? Is there no real competition online!?..
I later checked and most of the players I played where in the top 35.

I will spit on your tomb!

I only work in black, sometimes in very dark grey.
That depends. As someone who is 3rd in PS3 EU King of the hill and 5th in EU player matches global, I can assure you rankings doesn't matter at all. They guy who is just above me, Frostyspyke, has an impressive win/lose ratio...but his Batman is nothing out of the ordinary.

To the contrary, one of the guys below me, BrianFury, had one of the best Flashes I've seen. At the end, what really matters is skill, and leaderboards doesn't reflect that.

I should have said I don't think that ranks mean anything. But from experience in previous games, I would face player in top of ranks and it would show why they where in top ranks. Guess thats not the case in injustice. If you see someone with a good record, youd assume he knows what hes doing lol.

Meh, I recently played someone with a 600-100 record thinking that he'd be good.

nope, 6-0'd him before I declined a rematch. Fraud's, the lot of them. Play people from TYM, we're usually good

You will serve me in The Netherrealm
And what about people who only have online and are trying to improve? Randoms in rooms are sometimes all we can hope for.

Find people and friend them. then play them.

or find people here and ask if you can get some matches in with them.

I recently played someone who is both #1 in Player Matches and #1 in Survivor, with being in the top 10 in King of The Hill on the NA PS3 Leaderboards and I actually beat him. Just like everyone else has said, Leaderboards don't mean a thing.

online means absolutely nothing. nothing. it is only a place to learn matchup knowledge and attempt concepts. it is not to be taken serious especially for how bad the input latency is. no way to make it so you only play people in your region. in non peak hours when i place people that live within an hour from me it is not to bad but it still does not translate to offline play.

Yeah, Counterhitter is on point and trying to make it to EVO. I'm curious how he would do.

playing in your underwear in your mom's basement is a lot different than playing on a big stage with 10,000 + watching. if he doesn't get offline tourney experience he is going to take a crap all over the stage.

half the top 100 has a trueskill of like 25-27 on average which even me and my garbage playing can beat without much trouble. Leaderboards mean nothing. I do also find it hilarious that they previous guy who has TS way higher than everyone else has gone down about 10 trueskill points since they took away the quitting glitch.

People with thousands of matches played and a solid win/loss record are generally going to be better than most other randoms. It's a good place to start if you want to play better people. Saying it means absolutely nothing is just wrong. It's not the end all be all, but it's something.

There needs to be an online matchmaking thread right here in Injustice general discussion to make getting matches easier. Something where you can post that you're online now and want to play. It's a fucking pain in the ass typing out messages and trying to invite people using XBL.
