Option for Tournament Mode Fatalities.

Hey TYM.

Confident that the genius minds at NRS will continue doing their best to update character balancing, Netcode, In game button configuration, And all the most commonly discussed user issues.

One highly overlooked beautiful feature in this game ( Although it has nothing to do with competitive play ) Would be the more immersive look of the Fatalities when done in Tournament Mode using Kombat Kode 111-111.

EXAMPLES.

Unfortunate that these Tournament Mode Fatality versions require a Kombat Kode which requires assistance from a second player.

So, Myself and a small army have been Tweeting Ed and NRS, Suggesting this simple Option in ladders or any added single player mode. I've got a couple ReTweets, ( Think Ed might like the idea )

A reasonable feasible concept for an On/Off Option for these Fatality backgrounds for ladders ( Just the backgrounds in fatals, Not the whole mode ), Could go into Gameplay Options right under subtitles.

We've been using the Twitter system to get this simple request to NRS. For anyone who has a Twitter and would like to see this in the Gameplay Options and, Join the cause Lol.

I've made a simple copy and paste Tweet that fits perfectly in your What's Happening window.

Copy, Paste, Tweet, See if... "We are many, You are but one" Can get through Boon's Turtling game, He kan't handle our rushdown. :)

tournament mode disables first hit bonus which is the problem, not the 2 player input code. there will NEVER be a tourney rule forcing tournament mode even if the game gives you and auto on/off option for more enhanced fatals in that mode because of the disabling of the first hit bonus so dont even ask for that option because even if you some how get it, it still will never be a tournament standard. in short, even if fatals were made better in tournament mode, you would still never be able to do it in an actual tournament because the mode wont be a rule to use.

Hey Tom, You misread the post ( And title ). That's O.K., Maybe my fault for not making it clear. Only requesting an option for the [Fatality Backgrounds] from the Tourney Mode in Ladder mode, Not the other adjustments ( That's all ). Wouldn't affect gameplay at all.

Been enjoying your shows with Silent, Keep em coming and thank you Tom for all the tips and strats you review on your shows.

Great stuff!

The fatalities look the same... I fail to see the point.
You don't notice the backgrounds don't go completely black, And the floor doesn't turn into a square. They add new scenery to every Fatality, Depending on stage, Fatality camera angles and where in stage they are performed.

Just yesterday I saw Shao Kahn taunting as I decapitated someone in his throne room. Took someone else's life right in front of Skarlet. Check out the guy being dropped into the acid in the video during Kabal's Fatality, Different every time and much more immersive. :)

This is such a huge problem for this game. I don't care what anyone says, the black backgrounds look INCREDIBLY cheesy. I don't know what they were thinking. I will retweet that stuff too.

A feasible request that could possibly get accomplished.

The immediate problem is, most of us don't care about fatalities, there's a multitude of reasons behind this. Competitive players find them long and drawn out, thus ruining the momentum of the matches and being disrespectful are the two main reasons though. If I'm sparring with someone online, we both enter zombie combat generally to get the match over as quickly as possible. If I were playing locally I'd just hit the character select screen.

Yeah, fatalities are cool to everyday Joe but the novelty wore off after the 1,000th time I've seen them. Not to mention the fact that the people I actively play on a general basis I respect and don't do them simply for that reason. I have no reason to rub it in someone's face who I respect that I won. I really only do them if I'm playing some random person online who I find obnoxious. I'm a humble person in general, I have no ego.

Now, if there were friendships, I may actually do those on occasion. If anything, I think the whole notion of fatalities do nothing but piss people off and deter them from the game. Often I 'rage quit' online just to avoid seeing them because I don't want to be locked into watching some animation for 20 seconds.

I would say you're going to get much better results for this cause if you visit TRMK since they're more or less just general MK enthusiasts. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, but eh...the fatality gimmick was cool when I was a little kid, but I'm over it now. The main difference being, when I was a little kid, I only played the game to see the fatalities...now I actually play the game and don't care squat about the fatalities. It's the total opposite for me.

Wow, Nice post... Guess you didn't read mine but it's cool your right, Wrong site. The suggestion was for a single player option, For when I'm driven to extreme frustration due to 1 full second delay in anything I input Online ( Weather it be in game or character select ).

Actually started the post mentioning the priorities first.

To me fatalities are like the blood red cherry on the cake...not hugely important, but a nice light touch to end affairs. To me the fatalities in this game dont take much time and allow players to sorta recoup in between matches more instead of just going right back into the action. Theyre a super brief departure during the match that embody part of the substance of the franchise, and to me they should at least be done every 3 wins.

That being said I still would like to see a tournament mode option period for online, instead of having to see if players go for it.

I didn't notice either until you pointed it out. Quite frankly, I don't know why this isn't the default. I never understood the full fadeout in later games.
