What is the best way to practice teching throws?

I have a big weakness in my game which is teching throws. In all the fighting games I played this has been my big weakness and only recently I learned how to tech properly in AE. I'm still free to throws in MK9 which in my opinion they are very hard to tech on top of being a 50/50 and is based on luck/read. I have heard that throws in Injustice can be done on reaction but for me (because I suck at it) this seems like a difficult task to master. I have teched throws in Injustice but mostly by prediction and noticing my sparring partners throwing habits. I don't have the skill to tech on reaction. My question to you guys is how do you go about practicing to develop this skill? I would really appreciate all the help and input I can get. Thanks in advance.

Teching a throw on reaction is pretty hard in any game. Most of of your teched grabs are going to come from downloading the opponents habits, that's just the nature of grabs. If you could always tech them on reaction no one would ever do them, right?

I get what you are saying but I have heard Tekken players like Rip and Aris saying they are happy with the throw system cause it can be teched on reaction. This seems really difficult to me. I just wan't to know a good practice method.

The way the camera changes really quick during a grab attempt is the best cue for teching I guess. Not sure how you could practice it except setting the training dummy to throw you over and over by recording it.

I actually tech throws better in MK9 and SCV. Because you only need 1 button to tech and it makes it easier to react. The throws being a 50/50 isn't much of a problem because throws themselves are mix-ups already.

In this game, though, teching throws are unreactable to me and I actually have to bet on eating a full combo just because I read on teching their throw.

In the end of the day it's all in practicing reactions and muscle memory. Maybe you'll get better on reads(so will I) and do better against throws.

Go into practice, set the AI to "record", spam that throw, intermixed with a few combo strings just to mix things up, then hit "select" to regain control of your original character. Defend against the spammy throws.

I will keep at it. I have seen CDjr and Chris G's last match and they both did incredible teching in that game. I know for sure I wouldn't be able to react not even predict those throws. It is still one part of fighting games that mystifies me.

Go to training mode and have the computer record a couple of ticks into throws and work on just the tech itself. See how long of a window you have to actually tech throws. Once you start teching throws late consistently against this it's just a matter of putting it into practice really.

Will do. Thanks for the advice.

I'll help you out if you want. Just send a practice invite. It's the least I can do.
