Why do specials come out when directions are input after the button, even with negative edge off?

For example, load up superman, hit 2 2 d f quickly, air grab comes out. wtf? because of this 2 2 df 1 becomes random crap like 2 air grab, 2 2 air grab, and sometimes actually what i want to come out.

wtf is with that? I can make a video if need be but its pretty self explanatory, look at the inputs in training. 2 2 d f = air grab.

in most fighting games there exists some negative edge to a degree. Turning it off in this game probably reduces it like how the early MK patch reduced it and this sounds like its an execution error probably.

Yeah this is stupid I don't know how many times I'll do an air or crouch grab some with some characters completely by accident.

It's simple.. We normalize the superman.
You can NOT completely turn negative edge off in injustice. You can only turn the release check off.
I didn't even know there was a difference. I thought "release check" was just an official term for negative edge. Would you mind explaining it a bit?

There are 2 parts of negative edge. The release check which looks at the releases of buttons and says "that was a button press" at certain times. (Special move inputs mostly)

The next part is the allowance of extra directional inputs, like this post mentioned. If you have a move that is back forward 3, you can do stuff like.back up forward 3, back down forward 3.

Now I do not own Injustice, so I can not speak directly to the function of the release check option, but generally speaking the release check is just a part of negative edge over all.

The next part is the allowance of extra directional inputs, and inputs done in an incorrect order. So If you have a move that is back forward 3, you can do stuff like.back up forward 3, back down forward 3.
