The game is turning into who can string together the longest combo and use it over and over and over and over.

It robs the matches of ebb and flow and instead turns them into mindless robot kata-kombat (I'm coining this term. Fear me.).

Wouldn't it spice up matches more if the combo pleebs had to keep on their toes and mix up their gameplay for fear of being stuffed by a Combo Breaker?

Killer Instinct had some crazy combos but combo breakers weren't limited by meter use. It was a timing mechanic that made protracted combos risky because they could be broken in select phases of the combo.

It's a small distinction, but one that kept matches fresh and lively.
 
Its not that interesting when some characters build meter stupid quick. Not to mention the first hit at the beginning of each match whoever gets that there's 2 breakers pretty much.

1 breaker in this game = gaining 40% health back.

Your idea would completely make combos useless and encourage a more mixup oriented fighting style. Which in turn would make breakers useless and make pure mixup characters OP.

Remember, not every character has a low and an overhead launcher. So characters like Kano, Reptile, Kabal and Scorpion would be godlike. And Shang Tsung would be literally unbeatable.

If it was possible to bait the opponent's breaker, make them waste it and then continue applying pressure and a combo, then fine, but the way it is now- bad idea.

Oh, internet...how did people voice their opinions before you came along?! There's nothing preventing you from creating your own fighting game, you know! Hell, somebody needs to get the ball rolling on Killer Instinct 3. It could be you!

Sounds like someone sucks at blocking, or spams unsafe moves a lot.

You know what would REALLY spice up gameplay? If breakers were bait-able in the same fashion that you can bait out/predict bursts in Guilty Gear. It's annoying to go through hell to get in on a Noob player only to have them break and knock you away. Breakers are completely 0 risk, and I think they should change that.

This is probably the worst example you can use. High level Killer Instinct consisted entirely of combos that were unbreakable (and generally more damaging than normal combos).

What a stupid thread....If it was up to me, I would remove breakers completely and decrease the damage of big combos so no combo exceeds more than 50...
 
@Everyone: I thought I might point this out to everyone that this guy got one post so needless to say hes new here just saying. I thought I took it easy on him by indirectly saying its a terrible idea and actually restrained myself from posting more. At least some people in here took it easy on him this guy reminds me of "The worst best man video" talking about abortion during a wedding reception.

Breakers being 2 stocks of meter is fine. If Shang Tsung could do breakers AND those unbreakable combos you'd be asking to have breakers removed. Most games don't have combo breakers, you simply have to avoid getting launched in the first place. Please focus more on that and take your luxury mechanic for what it is.
 
There's nothing wrong with breakers. It's all about meter management. It gives you a choice. Do you want your EX moves? Do you want to use your breaker or save up for an X-Ray? If you don't like breakers then dont use em lol. with no breakers it becomes a combo fest. Look at Marvel vs Capcom 3 the combos last forever! MK9 is a different game and breakers add to the strategy.

I'm really sure Wonder_Chef posted a vid about meter gain and management. I suggest you take a look at that since breakers are predictable and occur enough in matches.
