Hey, i'm new to the fighting scene and was curious if there are any regular get togethers or ranbats where i could give things a try offline.

We have quite a large scene for SF4AE2012 and UMvC3. There are some of us who play a shitload of MK and myself and Vegeta get together twice a week usually to play offline.

We've been trying really hard to get an MK scene going here in Utah, but everyone is online and don't want to leave their houses.

We are holding a big tournament at the Game Grid @ Valley Fair Mall this Saturday the 28th... here are the details:

Game Grid Battles 4 on January 28th

Here is all the details

Gamegrid is moving to their new location next week. I have been to the new location and it is so much bigger and more suited to our needs. We will be able to have many more setups.

Location: Valley Fair Mall at Game Grid

Time: Casuals/Registration at 11:30 and Side tournaments start at 1pm. Street Fighter starts at 3.

Games played: Super Street Fighter 4 AE 2012, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat 9, King of Fighters 13, Street Fighter 3rd strike.

Systems: Everything will be played on Xbox but Mortal Kombat. That will be on PS3. You MUST bring your own controller. We will not be using the arcade machine due to it not being 2012.

VERY IMPORTANT, READ BELOW:

Costs: Venue fee 5 dollars. Games. First game is 5 bucks, second game is 3, and each addional game is 2 dollars. If Street Fighter 4 is one of the games you are playing, then the 5 automatically goes to it. If are not playing Street Fighter 4 then you can choose where the 5 is going if you are playing more than one game. An example would be if you are playing Street Fighter 4, Marvel and KOF13 then your total cost would be 15 dollars. So 5 would go to game grid, 5 to ssf4 pot, 3 to marvel pot, 2 to kof pot. I have structured this hoping to increase the other game participation.

Prize Structure will depend on how many people we have. Most games will be winner takes all. Street Fighter will be 70/30. If we get ton of people, I may change this to pay additional places.

Rules: 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches, Grand Finals only are 3/5. Pausing loses the round.

I'd love to participate! I'm trying to get back into the game after a like 3-4 month hiatus and I'd like to actually get some practice offline on a regular basis. I'm over in Cottonwood Heights but I'm pretty sure I can make it over to the location for the tourny.

We will start having casuals again next week or the one after probably and it will most likely be on Monday and Friday nights. We are winding down from all the grinding we did for Final Round.

Be sure to be at the tournament at the Valley Fair Mall in the Game Grid Arcade this Saturday @ Noon. All EVO games will be represented.

Yes, the only ps3 being used is the one for mk9 so there will be no issues with them. Just make sure you desync when you finish playing so you don't accidentally hit the home button. See you Saturday.

Updated OP with up to date information (sadly lost a ton of MK players due to people moving or losing interest).

Anyone in or around the Utah area, POST IN THIS THREAD! PM me or 801 Vegeta for info on casuals! We want to play YOU.

MK9 @ Salt Fest 2013 ... 6 people entered, only 5 made it (Konqrr, 801 Vegeta, ll Nooby ll, JWonggg, a Scorpion player)

They did a round robin so everyone played against everyone... what happened? ... lol

It was a perfect 3-way tie for first between myself, vegeta, and nooby who all train together. We all ended with a 3-1 record only losing to each other. There were no tie breakers due to the RPS way we won and lost to each other.

I tried to add the link for the Utah tournament to our Streams tab, but the channel is missing a thumbnail image. They need to add one or it cannot be approved. Fortunately, I believe the Events tab can still be used.
