ECT5 - Ferris Aircraft Stage Banned, Lobo is Allowed

The Lobo ban at UFGT9 is common practice. There have been many fighters with DLC released 2 or 3 weeks before a major tournament, and the T.Os decide that's not enough time to truly explore the new DLC character (in terms of character balance/added glitches from that character).

How long does it take to understand a fighting game?

How long does it take to learn how to play a character, and all the match ups for that character?

How long does it take to truly make an honest decision if you like said game/character?

The answers to these vary from person to person. I think these questions go hand and hand.

This bug happens on several stages. Also, what about the bug w/the motorcycle on Wayne Manner? should we ban that too?

This is RIDICULOUS... glad these "experts" get to come in and make up custom rules for us...
True. Happens in other stages. For example me and scar were playing
on the stage in the middle of the selection screen (can't remember name of it right now, one with the big pink hulk looking dude on the background in the far right)
The big tank thing you can explode that freezes ppl. Or power chars can throw.
It ended up being on the screen after I used it. Where you couldn't see the chars hiding behind it.

So ban stage interactbles is what you saying? ;) lol.

But yeah. Unless you a TO, you can't really make or argue with their rules.

Still early in the game to be banning stuff. But we did ban stages in mk quite early (street. Because ppl argued about the car messing them up which was only on the screen for a second every now and then)

If it legitimately hinders the gameplay like this one then yes... Yes we should... Any bugged stage being used in tournament is unacceptable in my opinion. Until NRS cleans them up, any stage with legitimate bugs should not be used in tournament. I say that and I main deathstroke.... Who benefits huge from Ferris Aircraft... It's just common sense.

I don't understand what your issue with players not wanting to play on buggy stages is, or if your just looking for something to be angry about.. Why would any tournament player even want the associated risk with playing on a stage that would hinder the gameplay?

we have day 1 and week old tournaments. Don't you think it's not enough time to learn each char??
Why is there tournaments if each char can't be explored?

I know in marvel they let it rock when Jill and shuma came out

I think that Brady's argument is very similar to my argument (but we are going about it in different ways / reasoning): We do not have sufficient information or enough evidence to start banning stuff. Everyone is just saying "ban it" when I'm thinking that this is a perfect opportunity for people to start asking NRS in unison if this was already fixed with the update from earlier this week.

Instead, NO ONE is asking that. We're just going straight to "ban it", based on information whose source is from a timeline that took place BEFORE we got the latest patch AND from a picture from a port of the game that is not even tournament-standard (Wii-U). Also, with this bug apparently having occurred on multiple stages, Brady is wondering why those other stages are not being held accountable. Again, we're throwing out bans when we do not have all of the facts yet.

Now, if NRS came on here and said something like: "Yeah....this isn't fixed yet. We're still working on this."; THEN we have a problem because the next thing that we will need to determine is if this happens on ALL stages or just certain ones.

In conclusion, I feel like this banning is the result of a knee-jerk reaction, when the time could have (and it still can) been spent on demanding patch notes from NRS to see if this has already been fixed. Or even just getting a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer. We need more information before we start making rules like this.

ALSO, I NEED MY RED TOOLBOXES TO THROW AT PEOPLE!

Also, this is my favorite stage and I've probably played on it several hundred times by now. Not once have I ever been able to replicate this issue.

I personally don't agree with the ban, for the record.

Those were banned at final round because they cause the other controllers plugged in to lag
Wtf I have used a plugged in controller while someone else was using this... Didn't notice anything. What's the backstory behind the banning? If there is an issue it should be brought to our attention for ect.

I'm not sure. Ask blanka I saw it on the final round facebook of that exact converter being banned at the tournament for issues.

I played someone using it before and it did effect me a bit. A lot of kabal stuff was not working. I heard its good going from ps3 to Xbox but not the way around. Or maybe I have mixed up?

Hopefully we can test this Saturday, thanks.

It's the salt. Ferris Aircraft has so much interactables (unblockables more correctly) that you can deplete one bar easily only using those, and you still have left (hello left corner).

This ban is stupid imo, I have never seen it and I don't think it is stage specific...so why ban this stage and not others for the possibility of it happening. I think people are just in a rush to find things to ban sometimes...

Ninj

Where art thou, MKX Skarlet?
If it happens on multiple stages ban them all.

Or don't ban anything.

Wait a minute...

we don't decide what gets banned in the first place. The T.O.'s do. Anyone with a problem should take it up with a PM to them.

as I said... why only ban ONE stage where something buggy happens when this same bug happens on more than the one stage? Paulo said the bug is fixed in the build he has, and that it may be fixed in the Lobo patch or if not, it is for sure fixed in the next one. I don't see what the big deal is. You want to ban the "buggy" stages where it happens once every 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 games? ok, ban EVERY stage where a bug that does something like this "could" happen.

Man, do what you want.. IDC.. I am actually sick of hearing about custom rules, nerfs, etc...

I am sure it will be unbanned when we get the patch that fixes it. What's the big deal here?

Because its reactionary bordering on cowardly. Most of us old dogs maintain a "let it rock" mentality, now the entire internet cries ban the second a youtube video pops up.

Never mind if said glitch is even easily replicated or competitively viable for either player. We're talking about murdering a whole stage a lot of players (wether you like it or not) have come to rely on.

Ok, but that stage has a glitch that makes it impossible to see people in a competition based around money. Physical proof was presented of the glitch and T.O's responded NOT THE PUBLIC with the ban. As soon as it's patched like Paulo apparently said it was going to be, life will go on.

Do not tell me that if you were playing for money, and this shit happened and cost you a match you would not be absolutely irate.

Tom Brady used to go on tirades about the god damn input bug costing him matches. I could ONLY IMAGINE what would happen here.

I don't think this is a good thing... But I am really happy Ferris is banned just because fuck DS on that stage

You're missing the point.

1. The bug is minimal. We have LOTS of footage of unhindered Ferris play and one screen shot of it glitched.
2. Ferris isn't the only bugged stage. No one is calling for Gotham or Solitude (which also exhibit the bug) bans.

Would you be okay with a ban on a special move (or worse, character) just because it has a 1 in a thousand or so chance of leaving extra garbage on screen?
