What's new

Two questions. What do you think of a block button and the amount of chip damage projectiles do?

Projectiles are overrated in this game.

The best one is Cyborg's instant aerial fireball.

Then the second and third best ones are probably Deathstroke's low gun shots followed by Superman's aerial heat vision and Sinestro's fear blast.
I wouldnt know because NO ONE FREAKING USES CYBORG! Cmon people out of all the matches ive played i have yet to play more than one cyborg player. I wouldnt say projectiles are overrated in this game though because projectiles serve a purpose in every fighting game especially for the characters that have them.

For me, I wouldn't have even gotten the game if there was a block button. That said I have always been a SF player and just could never get use to the idea of one when I would mess around with games that had one. I suppose its a matter of what you grew with.

Secondly, as a Grundy user, and more prevalently as a BA player -- yeah I can admit chip damage in general is far too high. Projectiles should be an element to the game (obviously) but as they are right now they are overly potent. Well, by my opinion anyway.

Not only are they doing chip damage, but they are building even more meter. They build meter even on chip while the player blocking does not.

No I was super glad they got rid of the block button and the MK style. I like MK9 a lot, more then sf4 tbh, but having a dedicated block button always felt off for me.

Adding a block button/removing crossups would fundamentally affect the way the game plays.

As for projectile spam and chip, still nothing in this game that can compare to year 1 MvC2 Sent/Spiral teams or Clockw0rk which can kill you while keeping you in blockstun. Game is just about a month old, tech will be found and the metagame will eventually evolve.

Glad i know that the block button wouldve ruined how this game plays especially since i use crossups. This game is not MK and its good to have that extra added depth that comes from having to press back to block. There is a little mixed feelings about chip damage though but its still early in the games life so we might find out that those projectile attacks to do high chip damage could end up being needed for those characters. It is just a little shocking at first when you do player other fighting games that feature projectile attacks that dont do the same damage on block as Injustice. The game is still a baby in terms of fighting game life but its good to play theory fighter to see what the community thinks about certain aspects of the game.

To think i almost didnt buy this game because i was afraid it might be pure fan service. The games very addicting and in my opinion for being so early into its life great. I personally like it more than i did MK when it was released and i feel NRS did capture the feeling of each DC character for the fans while still making a solid fighting game experience. Lets be honest that shit is hard to do because you dont see many fighting games or games in general that make a good on a well known license like DC. I really feel this game has a lot of potential because people who dont play fighting games will try it because of the DC license and a lot of those players will actually learn to play a fighting game because of it. Good job NRS for making such an addicting fighting game and fuck you for making me want to play it all the time while not having enough time in the day.

My main issue with a block button is that it practically elimiates crossups all together. I prefer my opponent to have to make the 4 way judgement call forward backward or one of the two involving a crouch much more so than block button high or low. As for chip damage I think the answer here--especially with some moves doing a large amount of chip damage-- is to do what u can to avoid the move, its more about reads in this case than blocking the very visable projectile. Its one of this games mechanics. With or withiut either of these things the game works, it just so happens it was developed this way instead of more like MK9. Just my thoughts.

On the issue of the block button, I was scared about it going in, but it honestly feels really natural to me, in that even though I played mk for 2 years, when I think about it it seems foriegn in my head. I now understand why players like chris g came into mk with the block button and kind of didn't know what to do with themselves. It just feels awkward. It works for mk but I think Injustice is great the way it is and unless we find something ridiculous, the game is fine. Projectiles are strong. Who cares? It is just how the game is played.

Why not? I know no "real" 2d fighter uses a block button. What takes away the competitive edge? I mean back is still the block button. So it doesn't really make a difference to me. :16Bit

To be honest, I feel that if they made the maximum stage zoom out a tad bit smaller like SF size, projectiles wouldn't be that huge of a problem, but the size is RIDICULOUS for some chars that have crappy dashes and horrible zoning, warranting them a difficult task to try to get in.

If its an option to have a block button everyone would pick that so they didn't have to worry about cross ups

That is true. I don't really know the difference except for the cross-ups. I play MK/Soul Calibur/Tekken. So I am used to the block button. :16Bit

Tekken is back to block yo and SC is even more dead than MK is :p
I know Tekken is back to block. I was just saying that most of the fighting games I play have a block button. I don't think Tekken has cross-ups either though. :16Bit

Soul Calibur is dead...:(
