Question for Pad players

Ok so until I figure out which stick I am going to get and how Im going to use it I will have to perform as well as I can on my http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-controllers/razer-onza-tournament-edition/

With that being side, I try to use the D-pad ( as it has individual buttons ) for most inputs but I find myself wanting to try and using the analog stick for jumping movements or any similar movements.

What is the normal Pad input structure with say a ps2/ps3 style pad ( closest to my own )

I.e. - button layout/ input style etc.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I used the fight pad on the 360. I would use the d pad but I have no comments on analogue as I never tried it in fighting games. On ps3, not on this game but streetfighter, I used the ps3 controller and the d pad

In other words.... Should I be using the analog at all on my razer onza
When it comes to using the d-pad or the analog stick on, say something like a 360 controller, what it ultimately comes down to is personal preference. When I used to use my 360 controller, I'd use the d-pad whereas some of my other friends preferred the analog stick. I know people whose execution is pretty good with the analog stick, but most people I know use the d-pad.

I'm using a MadCatz SFxT fightpad now, and all I have to say is that this trumps both those options as it's much more precise compared to the Xbox 360 pad. :D
