Nah, Hawkgirl is fine, the problem with most skins is the lower face, and you can already see Hawkgirls, her mask isn't really hiding her ugly, like Kitana.

Read Batgirl Year One. She took the name and costume to make her dad mad. Bat's had nothing to do with her.

Well, for sidekicks, I meant those who were trained from day one by their mentors. Batgirl wasn't. Any comic she was in with Batman had her as a "guest character". Unlike Speedy/Red Arrow, Robin, or Wondergirl.
The common assumption is that she is a side-kick. Cassie and Stephanie are also clearly side-kicks. I guess technically Barbara isn't... but she kind of still is. :16Bit

Batman was at her bedside as soon as she was shot. Barb's is a side-kick.

Steph was less involved with Batman until Tim quit. That's when Batman got her into being a Robin. Her time as Batgirl came way after she was a Robin.

Nightwing was with Batman many times too. Doesn't make him a sidekick. I just feel like they've gone out of their way to make people see her as her own here than just a sidekick, but your opinion's your opinion.
