Shiizu seems to suggest that he can live to fight another day, so I'll shoot to arrive for 4PM.

It might turn into stick vs pad when AboAly leaves, but I'm cool with that this time.

I wish I could make it to Rainbow's place tonight, but I won't get there before 7 if I leave around 5:30 by bus. So i'll try for another day, weekends are highly preferrable since i'm free all the time, on weekdays i'll try to shoot for an earlier time to leave work for the next gathering. GGs to Abo and Essay today. Had fun, and it's nice playing in lag free. Sorry I wasn't so talkative, I'm still a bit groggy from lack of sleep (not because of you guys, I just had problems sleeping lately, personal issue).

If you want to come over again this week, I don't mind. There'll be pizza or chinese on my treat. Let's try to get Shiizu in on this as well as the SRK guys this time so we can have twice as much players and twice as many victims for Cyber Sub shenanigans.

At least I left the undisputed champ of zombie kombat. Who would have thought that it would give Jade such an advantage? I'm going to enter the three-skulls before every match until people learn.

Yeah, Essay's Jade can get pretty nasty. He swept a few matches out from my Sub and Cyber Sub's feet (don't think he beat my Nightwolf once tho? Might not be 100% accurate on that statement). Abo's Kabal is sweet too, nice dash cancel mixups and a good zoning game, had to work to get in when he didn't want me to do that.

Anyway, I just thought about it and I can host on Saturday no problem from 3:30 PM to 12:30 AM. That's like 9 whole gotdang hours! It will include pizza (or chinese, but I'll need you guys to chip in if we order chinese since $10 a plate isn't my idea of affordable if we get 4-5 people like I think we might be able to get). Shiizu, I think you're in Central Downtown right? If you want to show earlier than Essay rather than wait for him, the STO route 77 goes straight towards walking distance from my place, it's like a 10 minutes walk from the Promenades station.

Let me know if it works for you guys and let's get this show on the road again!

Good stuff. I'm definitely up for a long MK session this Saturday, 3:30 is perfect and gives me plenty time to prepare before heading over to your place. I have a Stick that works on the 360, but since we'll be playing on the PS3, I won't bother carrying it, I don't mind using a pad. And I understand about the food costs, i'd be more than willing to chip in for the food (even for more than 1 plate if needed). I just gotta remember to take out some cash, because I have a bad habit of carrying only credit/debit but no cash in my wallet!

It was great to meet up with you guys! I had fun and Thx for both Rainbow and Essay for those enjoyable few hours. I definitely look forward to do this again soon.
Unfortunately I can't make it weekends and you have to do it without me, but let us set something for Monday through Wednesday after noon like we just did, I'm willing to host and maybe a bit earlier than 4, so just let me know.

I have a Stick that works on the 360, but since we'll be playing on the PS3, I won't bother carrying it, I don't mind using a pad.

The good thing is that Rainbow plays pad anyway, but has the one stick for us to use. It's good that you don't mind using pad though because when it comes down to the two of us... Oooor, we can just rotate.

I'm sure he's going to get sick of the Jade matchup though, so I'll see how much I can improve my Liu Kang in the next two nights (because no one will get sick of my B312, dash, B312, dash, B312 wall carry, right?)

Yeah, I'll try to see if I can't find a SF4 TE or SE for cheap as well so I can have 2 sticks at all times. Got a mod project I could use it for anyway.

Guess Sat will be the battle of how long can I endure Cyber Sub vs Jade until I decide to be a douchebag and switch to Nightwolf. Provided Arrakis from SRK comes (I sent him a PM but he didn't respond yet), we might have anywhere between 4 to 7-8 people. I know some guys from Gatineau who also might want to get into it.

Just to confirm, I'll have a second stick available for PS3 but it will be one of the PDP MK Ultimate Edition sticks (the ones with the MK layout). They take a little while to get used to but I figured I might as well get one and learn to play this thing on stick even tho I'd rather not use my HRAP3 for this game since it feels all wrong to play on for me without the MK layout.

@ Abo: I'm sorry I can't host earlier this Saturday, I'd love to get some games in against your Kabal and Smoke I can however most likely host again sometime during weekdays same time as before (4-8), or I can travel to your place provided there are buses nearby since I'll need to leave to get to work by 9 PM. On a related note, the Ottawa SRK community has gotten an "HQ" (it's really just Johnny's basement but it's central - Glebe). The details aren't sorted out yet but it'll be around $2 to cover for electricity costs and AC cost per attendance with a max of 8 players at a time, the extra money will go to either upgrading the HQ itself from a basement unit to a rental location somewhere in a nice building, or just upgrading the equipment. I'll keep you guys updated on what happens with the HQ and if we can make it a regular spot for MK gathers. I'll talk to Johnny about opening up on a day where we can almost all get together once everything is put into place.

On a completely other tangent, I've contacted 2 more guys who are (in one case, was, he hasn't been active on SRK in forever but I've also tried to contact him on PSN) interested in learning MK. This thing's starting to grow exponentially fast. I also put forward an invitation towards the whole of the Ottawa SRK community to give MK a try. Ideally, I'm shooting to have a core of 6-8 dedicated players (counting myself, we're already at 5) and then using this a "political clout" to grow the game into something that has some push around the Ottawa fighting games community. Would you guys be interested in me getting in contact with the people who run the local Monthly tournament to see if we can't get MK rep'd there? It's mostly Smash/SF4/MvC3 right now, but the Blazblue community managed to shove itself in, maybe we could too? That's provided I have your support on showing up so I can have some numbers to wave around.

first: I am the guy who hasn't been on SRK in forever, I have not gone through all the posts so please bare with me.

the mortal kombat sticks are amazing by the way, once you get used to using them that is. They suck for anything else but MK though which is bad for sales I guess, I have one for the xbox 360 and if i get to a gather have no problem lending it if needed as long as we are respectfull to others stuff, which im sure everyone is.

As far as TastetheRainbows post above getting into the GO tourney is hard, I tried they never even got back to me about it but all the power to you, if mk was there i would show up for sure. (providing work schedule that is)

If anyone has mk on xbox and want to spar maybe do some combo practice and whatnot my xbox tag The Zoof add me if you want.

On a more personal note I am really happy to see this site and this group even if it is really small, as TastTheRainbow knows I am not really happy with the way most of the people on SRK (and the subsequent community based around it) treat new people, they are friendly untill you get to one of there gathers. Now I know there for money , but they insist on helping and none of them even want to show new people fundamentals they just blow you out of the water and say ok now go home and learn.

GGs to Shiizu and Essay for tonight. I think I finally got the Jade matchup down pat for Nightwolf (it involves a lot of Angry Indian Nut Kicks). Was fun all around and I think I'll pick up Johnny as one of my mains now lol.

I'll have the word on next week once I get more from Abo, Shiizu and Zoof. When would best for you guys? I know Essay's out for two weeks due to personal stuff, so it'll be between us. I'll try to message Arrakis and see when he's down for games too.

Now I just wish we had like 2-3 more players so we could do it all the gotdang time

GGs guys and thanks for hosting, Rainbow. That was a lot of fun, and i'm definitely looking forward to next time. I want that Jade and Nightwolf rematch btw. =P Your Nightwolf combos really hurt, and I think you've got a really solid Cage as well (unlike mine lol), you've got some really scary corner pressure and mixups with him.
Essay's Jade was also very solid (especially the timing on the X-Rays!), those were some great mirror matches. I learned a lot watching your Jade. =)

As for the next meetup, weekend's always the best for me. For weekdays, any day of the week is fine, just let me know in advance so I can plan to leave work a bit early that day.

as i said before i havn't read the other post, is there any "rules" for your meets? though from what i read they seem pretty casual, by rules I mean smoking inside outseide...does it matter "what" we smoke if we can, food bring or not stuff like that.

Also have any of you thought of trying to get in on the rambats that the SRK guys do? I know my earlier post says i don't really like them but at the same time im super tempted to see if we can get into there thing and mop the floor with them in MK. (i have a pretty decen chun-li in SSF4 as well)

got to say im kind of scared about how good you guys are, I know a few combos and such with some cherecters but Cage is one of the more complicated and I havn't even touched him yet lol.

Haha, don't worry. I know how hard it is to be a cook since I'm one myself. Just come out when you can. The SRK crew is getting a HQ soon so we could reserve a night there a week or something. It's down in the Glebe as I said so it'd be pretty much central. We could also run ranbats concurrent to them, whichever's fine. Would have to be on Fridays if you want the rest of the SRK guys to get owned tho lol, since otherwise the HQ is going to have a maximum of 8 people at once during weekdays.

The only rule I have when I host is that if you want to smoke anything that isn't cigarettes or cigars that you do it outside my apartment complex. I'll lend you my keys so you can come back inside without needing to ring the door. Also that you respect my apartment and keep the voice to a reasonable level. Hype is acceptable, straight out shouting is not.

And don't worry about our skill levels, we're all still learning and players with more experience on fundamentals or general MK experience like Abo and myself have no qualms about pointing out what you do wrong or even giving you tips against our own strategies and coaching you during matches. I've told everyone how to deal with my NW frametraps because it's better to play against someone who knows what I'm doing and how to avoid it than to just beat them due to obscurity. Same with how to deal with my Sub and Cyber Sub (Essay has to stop jumping at me all the goddamn time tho, lol, dunno how many times I've told him that). So we'll help you learn the game better too. The better players we have, the more dominance we can have at majors while representing Ottawa, even if only a handful of us go.

Yes, good games Shiizu and Rainbow! I'm going to do some thinking to try and settle on a different alt though. As amusing as Liu Kang's combos are, I'm getting sick of his short-range footsies. Back to the drawing board.

I'd honestly be tempted to try and squeeze in a few matches early on Wednesday, but I've got an engagement downtown for around 5, and, well, I'm still kind of haunted by the memories of the traffic situation last week. lol I'll keep you all posted if my plans change though.
