Wake Up Attacks

Hello all, new to the site so before I get to my point just want to thank everyone here for their insight and dedication as this site is bar none when it comes to MK.

So for wakeups.... I'm having a tough time performing them so I was wondering if anyone had some advice.

I started to notice my wakeup execution sucked when facing one of my buddies whose Smoke and I was scorpion. When I got knocked down I would try to perform the wakeup attack because my opponent likes to the throw smoke ball once you've hit the ground. Instead of the invincible teleport wake up, the smoke ball would get me and you can guess what happened from there.

Is this not a guarenteed move in the game?? Special move input has to be done right before you hit the ground?? Or is the smoke ball just that awesome that you can't wake up against it? Okay enough rambling lol Thank you

He is most likely doing an OTG smoke bomb. It is guaranteed and unblockable. Also you cant do a wakeup move because the smoke bomb is hitting you OTG before you can do a wakeup.If he hits you with a low to the ground JK>Airthrow, OTG Smoke bomb is coming next.
