Whats up TYM!?

Really excited to get active with the community here, i have been lurking for some time now and with everything thats been going on with injustice I felt that I couldnt hold back and had to jump into it!

A little background on myself

Been A huge DC comic fan since I was a boy and also have played MK casually since the arcade version that came out in the mid 90's

However I am by far a super noob at injustice and have been getting my butt handed to me by my buddy who plays wonder woman and just spams her strings.

Only start up question I have is if anybody know's of some really good beginner character guide videos, I feel something like that could be beneficial.

OH! and P.S. I have the full unlocks for the iOS game and can hook anybody up with the unlocks just PM me!

Step 1. purge the term "spam" from your vocabulary. It is the terminology of scrubs; scrubs are players that never adopt a realistic mindset towards fighting games. If your friend's "spam" is defeating you, he has no incentive to stop "spamming", thus it dictates your defeat.

Adapt or die. That is the basis of fighting games. The sooner you learn this -- the better.

I appreciate the advice, any advice on trying to stop him in his tracks? Do i need to get better at blocking? or simply get a hit off before he does?

Both, yes. It'll come with time. FGs just generally require putting in the time to become competent.

Step 2. Purge the word "scrub" from your vocabulary. That word does nothing but turn new players off to the competitive scene.

I appreciate you looking out for a noob mike, but its alright I understood his point, I can take criticism pretty well.

Quick super noob question here...Im trying to practice my combos but I have no idea how to pull off an ( xx ) aka special cancel? and what its for? any insight?

You can end or interrupt certain strings/combos that you are doing, into a special move. They generally require specific timing to perform.....if I remember correctly, right after you finish the inputs of your combo, you have to input the special commands right away.

Whether for safety or for extra damage, certain specials have their own purposes for cancelling into them.

Take a look around TYM and find some combo threads to get started on practicing them.

Makes sense, but there is still one aspect that I dont understad..... What buttons ( on xbox ) allow you to perform the xx? or is it different for every character?

Say you press X, X, Y for a normal string, and a special move is inputted as Down, Forward, Y, it would go like this:

X, X, Y, Down, Forward, Y.

There is no button needed for cancelling into a special: it's supposed to be a smooth/rough, string-to-special input transition.
The "xx" is a term to tell you that a string is cancelled into a special.
