I'm assuming that the father knew it was a fertilizer plant. Fertilizer is highly combustible and used to make explosives -- why would you put your child in that situation? Hopefully the kid won't have permanent ear damage.

That's easy to say in hindsight. I don't think your average Jo could have predicted that kind of explosion and the effect it had from such a distance. Poor bloke must have been terrified to hear his daughter say that.

Man, I really hope the child's eardrums didn't rupture after that. I live in Texas, and it's reported that 60-70 people have died so far. Really sad
