2 years of playing MK9 and suffering through the online... Having my fiance question me repeatedly why I am yelling at my Asus monitor even when I am winning matches... We are now 6 days away from the next NRS release and judging off the demo, content released, and player impresses it looks to be a really good one.

Obviously the games online performance has nothing to do with how good of a fighter Injustice will ultimately be offline. However, online training mode could be such an amazing tool for players who are unable to train with established scenes and better players across the country. Personally, I think a solid online experience is one huge key to growth of our community and the strengthening of our player base.

With all of this said...how worried is everyone that we are only going to see minor improvement from the netcode we saw in MK9??

People need to remember that Injustice could have the best netcode ever invinted and it still won't help them if they have a shitty connection. As Hector already said several times, people need to have realistic expectations about what good netcode can do. No matter what, data has to be sent and received, which means that online play will always be laggier than offline play. Science!

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
It'll probably seem solid at first, with some inexplicable, but possibly negligible problem further down the line.

As long as the training mode is on par with TTT2's options I don't think it'll matter too much though. I think people tend to forget how makeshift the anti-air, and even the anti-anti-air (lol) metagame in MK9 is.

Well even though I'm from Chicago where we got mk guys...and these same mk guys will be playing injustice. But we can't always meet, so online is our second option. I mean I played SC4 and that game had bad netcode. Come SC5 it had amazing netcode...let's just hope good netcode doesn't create more online warriors.

Tbh MK netcode was bad but not THAT bad as ppl made it seem I played a few matches where it ALMOST felt like I was playing offline.... Its just ppls connection. A perfect netcode won't due much with a shitty connection
I have had good matches too, but it really is a lot due to the netcode. I have played with people in SF4 and Marvel and had awesome experiences and at the same time played MK with them and it has been absolutely terrible...

A big part of the problem is the inconsistency unfortunately.

Are we sure it is the net code that is the problem?

I don't care how good they make it, it will always have some input latency. Your inputs have to be sent to a server and then get a response back before anything can happen on screen. I'm amazed it works as fast as it does honestly.

hah I think it will create less online warriors. I think there are like 13 online warriors in the world in SF4

I heard they were going to be using some new technology though...

If I was on twitch the other day watching someone play online, I would say the netcode looked pretty solid and noticeably different than MK9.

I think it all depends if they used some of that money from MK to set up a dedicated server farm for the game instead of using peer to peer.

However, I'm not relying on the netcode nor am I expecting it to be any good.. would just be nice if it was.

Hopefully it's good, because I have a feeling if it's bad, this game is going to be more unplayable online than MK, Due to the way mobility works in this game.

Before everyone says "it's your connection" and turns this into another 'post your Speedtest' thread, I just want to say that I have different experiences in different online fighting games on the SAME connection. They have different servers and different code. And I have different experiences even between XBL and PS3, with the same game on the same internet connection.

So it's time to put "it's just your internet" to rest. Here's to hoping for a great online experience in Injustice :D

I think it will be fine because MK9 netcode was not very good overall (no matter the connection, it still wasn't on par with other games). I'm sure they learned their lesson this time around.

I'm not a netcode whore anyway, so it doesn't bother me much because I'd rather go to a friend's place and play. Other people who bank on netcode? Well it's a gamble you just have to accept.

I think they should split the rooms into regions. That way you can enter an East Coast, West Coast, Europe, Aussie, etc room and know you are getting into the best "servers" or "connections" to the people closest to you.

You could still play with your friends from around the globe if you want to, but if you want the best possible connection that would be ideal.

In Battlefield 3 you can choose what region you want to search for matches/servers and 9.8/10 it is an amazing connection with no lag.

If a game the size of BF and the amount of players per game can pull that off, then a fighting game SHOULD play like it is offline no matter what.

Just my two cents.

Good netcode can definitely make a difference, but anyone with a shitty connection needs to understand that there's only so much the netcode can do.

This. I would almost call my Sf4 experience online lagless, but mk is all over the place. In general people with better connections will have a better time, but in my experience with the same connection, sf4 has been almost flawless for me, and mk can be good-awful in any given match. Also Mk has the desyncs that happen in the middle of matches that I don't remember happening in Sf4. So my point is this: If one game can be close to perfect, the other could be too. I'M HOPING SO MUCH FOR IT TO BE GOOD THIS TIME!!!

I thought proximity would make all the difference in mk until I played my local buddy online. He lives in St. Paul, I live in Minneapolis, ya know, the 'Twin Cities', it ended up being one of the worst connections I've had in player matches online. My matches against other people are fine, his matches against other people are fine, our matches together are bad. :/

I really hope its good but am a little worried about them getting it right. I'm looking forward to seeing what people are saying on the 16th a few days before it drops in Europe.

I'd like to think that since NRS have a lot of eyes on them, they cannot afford to mess up the net code and have put a lot of resource into it. I'm reasonably confident but the proof will be in the playing.

After all this time developing and dedicating time to the offline tournament goers, I'm sure netcode is one of the things that community feedback was loud about. If the netcode is shit than this is all on NRS.

Cant judge till the games out but MK netcode was actually ok for me on my internet at least, i only had like 1/20 games with a bit of lag even from over sea's. With them saying they have imporved it i sure hope its good as im more of a online player. Not many events in the UK :(
