MK and Injustice character comparisons, new and old mains

kabelfritz

Master
so weve had all those single comparison threads, i thought a big one would be interesting

which characters in the two games are similar, who is gonna be a good pick/easy pickup if you mained a certain character in MK, which selection requires a higher level of adjustment?

i will most likely main raven, picked her even before i knew she is a counter zoner with a projectile parry and a teleport, a bit like my old main smoke.
im also thinking about playing Ares, Killer frost, Hawkgirl and Grundy. Can someone give input on who in MK these resemble?
in MK, beside Smoke i mostly played Raiden, Sub, Jade and Baraka. Who do they resemble in Injustice?
from my superficial impression , Raiden and Ares as well as Sub and Killer Frost (obviously) could be similar.

whats your stories and opinions, bros?

I don't think you can really compare them, they're more of a mix and match of different characters as well as added original moves too.
But that being said Raven reminds me of Ermac.

I was a day 1 Kano main in MK9, and am now looking to wreck people with Deathstroke. I also put some time into Sheeva, and will now be picking up Doomsday as a secondary.

I just realised Green Arrow also wears a hood! ;)
I was joking but it seems my sub-concision does indeed like that hip-hopper.
Sometimes, one of his alts does not.

I played Kano and Mileena in MK9, which means fuck all about this game. I'm gonna play Arrow and Nightwing since they are my favorite DC characters, mainly since they constantly call out Batman out on being an asshole. I guess Arrow has zoning and Kano has zoning, plus both have an unblockable super....

I think it's obvious that Batman plays more like Scorpion, who was my main in Mortal Kombat so I was already comfortable in Injustice. I mean the only thing that makes Batman similar to Scorpion is his Grapple Hook and the Slide Kick. He would've been even cooler if they'd given him the Smoke Escape from Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe but it's all good. Both Batman and Scorpion are easy characters I'd recommend to anyone who wanted to get into the game.

Another thing he and Scorpion have in common: Everyone is going to have to fight a legion of scrubby Batmen everytime they join a KOTH room...

I played Kano and Sektor in MK9.

I'll be playing Bane and Green Arrow/Deathstroke/Cyborg/Green Lantern/Black Adam/Sinestro (really undecided). Aquaman and Raven are also distant possibilities.

Don't know if there's any correlation there. For what it's worth, I played Kano only during the real early days when using an X-Ray wasn't so uncommon (in my area, anyway) and people got blown up by his armored command grab as I might do with Bane :p

Deathstroke's got some Kanoish linear zoning and Cyborg's got them upmissiles, but that's about it. Might not even end up playing either.

My picks for most over-played with be Batman and Deathstroke.
I hate to admit it, because I'm totally maining Deathstroke, but you're absolutely right. Maybe Doomsday as well, depending on how broken/braindead he is (who I also plan on playing...)

Nightwolf Mourner
Shazam looks like he plays similar to Nightwolf. Looks like the start up on his projectile is slow, and his psycho crusher/ff+4 from NW.

As a Kitana main who should I play? Iv been thinking about CatWoman and Deathstroke, today I test the full game.
Ares so far looks kind of like a mix of Kitana, Reptile, and Raiden. His projectiles, normals, and trait all remind me heavily of Kitana's fans. So he's like Kitana if she could teleport and turn invisible...

Plus on block.
I mained(or at least used the most) Sektor, Ermac, Cyrax, Johnny Cage/Liu Kang, and Sheeva(if you can call it maining...)

-Black Adam actually reminds me of Sektor in the way that he has good long range/zoning tools and seemingly good up close stuff. He has Cyrax-esque bombs as well. Sinestro seems Sektor-y as well to some extent.

-Green Lantern was someone I wasn't too interested in at first but after seeing his mission and more gameplay from the story mode(vids on youtube before they got blocked) he looks like a more complex Ermac, and I like that a lot.

-I like Lex from my experiences in the Demo, he's like a bigger and slower Cyrax. Stunning projectile(which also work as unblockable bombs as well), and unblockable set ups.

-Doomsday because he's the closest we'll get to a good next-gen MK Shokan character.

-The Flash looks like he takes all the thing I like about JC/Liu and amps them up, ridiculous and fast combos and cool looking move animations. Also a sense of humor.

Flash seems like a Johnny Cage on Speed with easymode "frametraps". I´d like to main Nightwing. Jade comes to my mind as his MK pendant but I think they´re not comparable. I hope he´s a mixture of Sub Zero (slowing the pace down with his staff/long reaching pokes) and a lockdown Char (Escrima Stance), maybe Rain (Nightwing can dash cancel his projectiles) or Liu Kang, I hope he´ll have a direct low starter.

I know, it´s just a assumption. Even after release, it could be hard to draw parallels cause NRS´ char classes are a little bit weird. In MK there isn´t that heavy zoner or a rushdown only char. No, NRS creates a char wich you can´t zone out but he can heavily limit your movement with smokebombs.

Mortal
I have sorta fallen into using Jax, but I don't know that I play often enough to consider anyone a main. I really like MK9 though, and have been a DC fan since I was a kid. I am going to give probably half of these characters some playtime. just because I like reading their stuff (though, I have to admit that I have never heard of a few of them).

One thing I would get a kick out of though, is using the Red Son Superman skin and beating a bunch of annoying pre-teen snots that will come through, all while reading from Kapital in a terrible, Vodka-induced Russian accent.
