SF or MK motions, which is easier?

I've never played the MK series so I'm completely new to their motions. I mostly have a background in playing Capcom fighters like SF (I suck at them) so I was wondering if MK motions are easier or tough for a noob like me. Thanks!

Well, I'm not the best person to say something about this... since I've only played MK9, BUT

it seems to me that the less motions there are, the easier it would be to do them accurately.

So I'm gonna say DF3 is easier than DDFF3 or whatever it is in SF.

I currently own a Fighting Commander 3 Pad and will be playing on that. I just wish the MK 9 demo was still up so I could just practice the motions.

I think in SF games you mostly have 3 motions:
QCF, QCB, Dragonpunch (which would be right-down-right).

I agree with Treadmill ... if you're playing on a PS3 pad or a good fighting game pad then MK9 should feel easier, but on a stick the SF motions should be better, because of all the rolling. Even though I hate the Dragonpunch motion. That one is ass.

I'll test them both in MK and take the one that feels the most comfortable for me.
But damn I will play with negative edge on for sure. It should be on to not have it the MK9 way, right? I hate the fact that in MK9 you can't perform certain moves, if you're already crouching, or that you can't perform other moves if you're going backwards / forwards already.

Yeah man, as frustrating as negative edge can be in Mk9 at times, I love it. It makes a lot of things easier

MK is way easier. I notice with street fighter type inputs you have to train your reactions to be a lot better to attack. Its really weird and different.

Like what?
I can only compare it to Street Fighter. When I block crouching attacks, I can simply do a Shoryuken (Dragonpunch + Punch) and perform the attack. In MK9 I would have to go into a neutral position first, because the game doesn't let me execute the inputs, if I'm already holding in the same direction where the special input would start as well.

I personally don't see any advantages in that.

I thought MK9 had negative edge... so like if you tried doing certain things you get the move the game thought you wanted and not what you actually wanted?

SF is better gameplay wise. You don't need to be in a neutral position to do the attacks so you're better off learning SF controls.

For me, it totally depends on the device i'm using. MK works fine on pad, but I have a hard time on stick. SF inputs are natural to me on that. Natural to the point that I really wish the "SF style" inputs in IGAU had dragon-punches for its anti-air specials, because that motion's simply become a part of how I react.

There's something Hector said in the EventHubs interview many of you are overlooking.

When asked about the two types of motion inputs he said this about the SF style: "one of the cool things about it is that you won't have to kinda go back to neutral to do your special moves, you can go from a crouch and roll directly into a fireball."

That is huge in terms of gameplay! One of my main gripes with MK is not being able to use special moves directly from crouch; for instance, many Sonya players do two d4s back to back from crouching not only to check the opponents but to be able to cancel into MS or Cartwheel.

I was going to use MK style inputs but after listening to what Hector said I'm likely going to be using SF style inputs just to be able to skip neutral.

MK inputs are very limiting from my experience. I think Sf input will be the competitor's choice and Mk style will be the casual's choice.

SF has quite a learning curve, so if you're new, I reccommend MK motions. They are simple button presses, instead of using the analog stick

You don't need the analog stick. In fact, it's a terrible idea to use it. That thing has horrible accuracy for fighting games.

You either learn SF inputs on pad or arcade stick.
