My cousin gave me his old copy of MK9 and I downloaded all the DLC... only to find out the Komplete Edition would have been cheaper... oh well.

I have been lurking here for a while. I've been pretty bad at fighting games all my life (except Super Smash Brothers). I've owned plenty of fighters and think I can get good and beat my friends, then after a few matches, I'm back to getting my ass kicked. This happened in Virtua Fighter 5, Soul Caliber IV, Capcom vs SNK2, MvC2, MvC3... you get the idea. I usually lose interest in a fighting game pretty quick but MK9 has me hooked much longer than any other fighter I've played. I get my butt handed to me online.

I decided to join and see if I could find anyone to play MK9 with in the damn real world. I want to get better at MK9. Cajoling my girlfriend into playing a few matches doesn't cut it for me.

Kind of embarrassed to say but yeah Scorpion. I just like him. From all the reading I know he isn't the best but oh well. He is still my favorite. I thought about switching to Kabal. He has always been my second favorite in the MK series. Followed by Raiden. Strange nostalgia moment, Kabal's inflation~explosion fatality in UMK3 was the first fatality I ever saw. I'm not good enough to do anything crazy like NDC into a litany of other moves or fast enough for instant air gas blast. I figured I should at least learn to not drop Scorpion's BnB's before I move on to more complex characters.

It's fine that you use Scorpion! Look at me: I'm the lonely guy who mains Kratos.

Scorpion is a good starter character. Once you get your execution down and comfortable with him, I recommend picking up Liu Kang to learn and improve in all the fundamental styles of MK9. (Rushdown, mixups, zoning, anti-airs, counter-poking, instant-air projectiles.......however, Liu doesn't have a good wakeup game)

A lot of the time, you do better with a character you enjoy using, rather than with a character you think you can win with. Sooooo.....pick your favorite characters!

Welcome, You will quickly learn that there are a lot of silly people here at TYM, you probably can catch a really nice stream at least once a day (watch gameplay, hear talk, see "drama"), and that Injustice is going to be hype as fuck.
