remember not all areas have the same internet availability right now

we were talking about how J360's internet is around 20x faster than mine for the same price, and it's the best I can get where I am.
but ive never heard of capped home internet other than like att cheap plans or something like that andif you use that for gaming then your problems are bigger than anything in this thread

At the very least, Google Fiber will force Verizon and AT&T to seriously step their fiber optics game the fuck up.

Ugh, the thought of having Google Fiber and downloading a 10GB game in a matter of seconds, while streaming 360, and watching my porn makes me soil my boxer briefs out of excitement just thinking about it...

WHY OH WHY ISN'T THIS REAL LIFE???

Gotta list the cons of an all digital library if we're talking about all of this.

1. You're probably gonna need a stable connection to play your games, at least with xbox games on demand you cant play them offline. Sony probably will address that, but until then...
2. Sony introduced 900 new ways to get hacked yesterday.
3. Can't resell games (never liked it but a lot of people seem to do it).
4. Games will probably be restricted to one console
5. Memory issues, with DLC, add ons, movies, tv shows, music and to top it all off complete games on your drive? That's kind of a lot.

With all that in mind i still think it's inevitable, we're moving towards and all digitized media age. And i personally wouldn't shed a tear for Gamestop, they nag their employees to nag the clients, horrible resale value and bs pre order offers.

Oh man tell me about it. I've invested alot of money on CD's. Have a huge classic rock/metal/blues collection. Even have out of print CD's and Japanese imports. I would be mind boggled if some booger eater told me that. The damn kids dont even know what real music is anyway.
Man, remember Import singles? The single best gems in music shopping, bar none! lol

Yes, you're weird. :p

nah, the GS i shop at is the one i used to work at, and they're the complete opposite of the "stereotypical" GS employees. No BS, no ignorance. If we (they) didn't know, they'd tell you where to find out. Regardless, I do like preorder bonuses, so if the digital direction is where were headed, then the bonuses need to follow digitally too.
See that's what I'm talking about, when you do have that occasion when the workers are cool it's awesome. I used to find my self talking games with these guys for hours, and they would straight up tell me what was good and what sucked.

The cheap ATT plan gives you a 150 cap, all other is 250 but it's all capped. So was Comcast until May of last year, they suspended it as they looked to implement a "better data usage system" that has yet to come into fruition.

1. Needs to happen anyway so people step up their internet game and stop clogging our servers w shit connections

2. yea lol so true

3. good point but for me its meh

4. they are restricted to one account which will be able to be authorized on other machines disabling it on another.

5. HDs come a long way, purchasing an external HD seems like something that will have to happen in connection with the systems current HD it comes with

Comcast has a huge monopoly in plenty of markets, and guess what, NO BANDWITH CAP ANYMORE. People were wiping their asses with the 250GB monthly cap they implemented to prevent piracy and torrenting, but it didn't work. They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I have the Blast! plan. It's 30 down and I think the upstream is either 4 or 5. Oh it's 60 bucks in south florida too.

People don't realize how unhackable the PS3 was, it literally got hacked by accident when someone stole a dongle from a Sony employee. Even today it's not fully hacked unlike the Xbox/Wii, it remains to be seen what new systems they've implemented but the old system worked fantastically.

Yea but trust me, and believe me when i tell you how fucked up, twisted and disgusting that company is, not to mention how badly they view and treat their employees. Its horrible.

Meh I stopped being a "CD" guy in like 2001. I can't stand disc swapping so this is a major + for me, especially if the Day 1 Digital from Sony applies to all new game releases. I also am not willing to leave my home on a day off to buy a game, I'd rather download it over night and play something else in the mean time. I win.

yep they are failing like circuit city did in 2009-current
Ah, good ol' Circuit Shitty.

Or Short Curcuit.

(i'm a former Best Buy employee, who in the 1990's basically worked for CDs as I spend most of my paychecks at work LOL. And we had a CC right across the way that was supposed to be "competition".)
