My thoughts and shoutouts post "Shang Tsungs Fight Night III"

Had a great time at GGA's 24 hour MK session this past saturday/sunday big thanks to everyone who helped put this event together, I'm so lucky to have such a strong scene for the game I play.
Here are some things I took away from the event.

- It doesn't matter who has advantage in a MU. If you don't take the time to study the matchup thoroughly, a good player will beat you. As was proven when my sonya took out a Kenshi and when ImNewbieSauce knocked me out of losers with his Kano.... God damnit i'm still salty about this

-Speaking of ImNewbieSauce His commentary is the best Mortal Kombat 9 has ever seen. Hands down. There is absolutely no question.

GGA HAN dude your cyrax has gotten absolutely brutal bro. Congrats on taking the tourney and thank you for running the MU with me after knocking me out of winners.

Chaosphere I'm glad we got a chance to run the raiden MU alot more extensively. Thank you for running it with me and i'm glad we got to hang out. Meshuggah is absolutely amazing btw.

Bootknocka has one of the best Noob Saibots I've ever played next to Fill Pops. He played lights out and gave alot of really good players quite a bit of trouble

Killphil thanks for making the trip up bro. I like that Ermac, when your fighting sonya the spacing has to be perfect or he's in for hell.

GGA Fill Pops is a big bully. Blackhole resetting 10 year olds in tournaments. He can also be found stealing old ladys walkers and tripping blind people in his spare time lol. Great noob btw bro. Work on that mirror

GGA soonk The only char you play that I ever have a chance against is Lao for whatever reason. You're Kabal is beast and doesn't get anywhere near the credit it deserves from the scene imo. You're also the saltiest bastard i've ever met and you owe me a Monster. Thanks again for the ass kickings I learned quite a bit from them.

Wafflez Great sets on stream bro. Was good to see and play you again.... You troll.... lol

-TYM and the "Pro Players" need to make nice or this scene is going to suffer.... Alot... Thats all I'm going to say on the matter, please don't start a war on this in the comments section

Meeting Pesina, Vogel, Parish and Ahn was pretty awesome btw. It's weird meeting people you used to play as in a video game years and years ago.

I'm happy with the way I played for the most part. Sonya is getting better, I'll have matches posted later in the forums for critique. Han is just a better player than I am right now both in his ability to adjust and experience in the cyrax and sonya matchup. I lost to Kano because Ken played him very solidly and I didn't study the matchup. This will never happen again but I don't wanna take anything away from the way he played.
Once again thanks to everyone for coming out and making this event a success. Sorry if i forgot anyone and I'll see everyone at UFGT, (Maybe FR)

I'm not going to start anything, just saying...

People want TYM Smackdown and don't like that people want to get rid of that.

Both sides have fair and valid points.

And both sides have not so fair and valid points.

Having very good friends in both parties I honestly don't know what the hell we're going to do come up with a resolution. All I know is if it keeps up the scene is going to die off significantly.

It seemed like a lot of the drama was personal as well, though. Pig left not because of TYM leadership but because of apparent issues with other specific people, some of whom are top players themselves. I'm not sure of Junior's reasoning, but comments made about him after Tyrant's win had him promising never to come back. Etc.

I think the reasons are diverse. It's hard to win either way -- you let the trolling/fighting continue and people get their feelings hurt; you stop it and you're being a dictator and people's feeligs are hurt.

It's just a tough situation.

And it's one of the things that's keeping the sport from being bigger than it is.. How can I convince established businesses to put money and reputation behind players, if the players can't keep themselves together?

Yeah.. I'm going to make a new thread for that so I don't distract from the praise about Shang's being awesome. It was cool to see the videos of everyone having a blast playing the classic games, too.

Apreciate it man I hesitated to even make the comment in my post for fear that it was all people would talk about

One side thinks they shouldn't have to adhere to rules. And thats fucking fine with me. Don't like it, go somewhere else. Drama queens can stay away from TYM.

TYM wasn't made to cater to the top players. TYM was made to get people off their couches and getting people together to play MK. Gatherings, tourneys, your buddies house, etc etc. Its nice to have players who win tourneys, but its just as nice to have players who just got the game and have no idea how to play it.

So again, if "top" players think they're above that, then thats too bad for them.

There's nothing wrong with being a dictator in this situation. if people are being childish put them in time out. Noone cares if "trolls'" feelings get hurt. "waa i dont get to make an ass of myself" y'know.I've advocated totalitarian moderation since the beginning,

Far as the actual event, i wish i could have been there, Vagrant that sonya's looking alright. i could tell you have been putting in some time.

Yep. I fucking knew it.

Give it a couple more before you close it to see if anyone wants to talk about the actual event, otherwise lock at will.

I dont even know what to say bro. Thanks for the kind words. Kanos shortcomings aside, you were probably mentally ready for my liu kang, and i caught you off guard. That being said, your Sonya is for sure coming along, and you are going to be a nightmare real soon. Gotta watch for my xray setups though. Ill run kano with you in casuals this week, so no aussie gives you trouble again. But i dont know how much longer i can play Kano against your blond tart at the rate youre levelling up broski.

As for the commentary...i hope everyone who listened to the stream enjoyed it as much as you did. I just try to keep MK fun, and not life or death serious. It was a blast though, and i think the stream enjoyed my BS.

Im not sure who is saltier with me, you or chaosphere after that tourney. Haha either way, huge love to GGA for the event, and Han....F your Cyrax in the face...with a knife....thats been poisoned. You are a monster Han. No joke. Asshole.

Last thing, i totally agree with you vagrant. Soonk doesnt get enough props. That kabal is a bitch to fight. This is the one and only time ill admit this Soonk. Your lao is free to me though bruh. :)

Edit: i forgot to mention bootknocka. That noob was legit. I got blasted in losers. I was in no way prepared for that, good shit man.

With all due respect, no one derailed the thread. A comment was made in the OP, knowing that it would be a big deal. I mean, you can't make a comment like that and expect people not to respond to it. It had nothing to do with Shang's fight night, so i don't really understand why it was brought up like it was.

So if it was derailed, it was derailed before it ever left the station.

Yes, but with a caveat... asking people not to make a big deal of it... instead it's what the entire thread has been about.

I'm all for expressing one's opinion, but if you want to talk about it, create a correct thread about it.

GGA Worked hard on their stream and this thread is/should be about the props they deserve for it.

We had talked about it a bit at the venue and on stream with alot of the stream chat during the event so I figured I'd make a note of it.

Shouldn't have even brought it up.

What a great time Shang Tsung's FN 2 was! Thank you everyone that came out and donated, especially the Midway/NRS guys (Daniel Pesina, John Parrish, Philip Ahn, M.D., John Vogel, and John Podlasek were in attendance throughout the day signing autographs and taking pictures)

Vagrant, thanks for the props. We'll run that MU as much as you want, and we can work on reptile, too.

ImNewbieSauce - I'm glad you and Vagrant starting coming out to play with us regularly. I always want to encourage players that can make it out to do so. I heard your commentary later that night was godlike, I'll have to listen to the replays.

I barely beat Wafflez in the runback in losers finals, it was a great match. Good shit to you, man.

GGA soonk, everyone has said this, but I've known this for awhile (and said it)...If you can't shake him up mentally, his Kabal is going to be really hard to beat. I don't think people realize that in general the GGA crew does very well against Kabal's because of this guy. You will get no more props from me so enjoy this one time, lol. Soonk doesn't know how to handle compliments, so I'm going to stop here and call his Kabal a bitch. (DONE!)

GGA 16 Bit and GGA Dizzy - thanks for being late and giving me a chance to win a local, lol. And to all the MU exp these guys give me every week!

Good times were had by all, and I like that we can all sit down at Tony's, drink a carafe of orange juice (lol @D-Que) and BS each other as well as be each others fiercest competition when we play at GGA.

Special shoutouts to GGA_Ghostlord (Doc) for putting on the entire event! Not only does he do things like this, he sponsors Team GGA to play across the country, buys monitors/games/stream PC's, gives us a place to play, and in general is pretty much responsible for our great scene we have in chicago.

If I left anyone out, don't feel bad. I'm old and forgetful...

Final Fight Night results:
1) HAN
2) soonk
3) Wafflez
4) BootKnocka
5) Pimpimjim
5) ImNewbieSauce
