I still doubt this event will even happen. All the promises they've made and what not are way too farfetched for a first time event in a place that has never had anything like this before. I smell a huge scam.

I do remember that. PL was the only name i recognized at that tourney. How are they able to fund a tourney so big this year when last years was almost unheard of?

PL was hung over lol , and it was a free trip for winners from EVO and pro players from evo, like, they flew Kayane and Gootecks there and they didn't win shit lol, so they will probably fly a bunch of pros there again,

They were smart about how they sold it to sponsors. They got the government of St Maarten on board by showing the educational value of gaming to boost their own community and also by showing the potential to get more poeple to the island to experience the caribbean and want to come back. This got them funding from the St. Maarten tourist board.

basically, yeah but the other way around. Rolando (vp) and his best friend (p) made vxg and brought their business plan to the government and showed why such an event (during their down season for tourism btw) would be good for the main industry of the island (tourism) as well as for its people. It's a subsidized business with legitimate sponsors. They could do vxg without the government backing, but the point is to grow and improve the experience, and therefore (on our end) to grow what it means to be a competitive gamer.
