I don't know what you were thinking here, but you can't sponsor a player to play for you. You can sponsor someone else's *entry fee* into the tournament. They still have to play.

your honestly forgetting what's happened in the past where people have openly sponsored other players to play for them to win the prize money so they can go to the events pretty sure it's happened before.

This wasn't allowed -- that's why there was such a big fiasco over CptXe's situation.

FT5 could be a max of 9 games or a minimum of 5 games. Best of 5 with bracket resets could be a maximum of 10 games or a minimum of 3 games

If you look at how long it would be with either system, at the absolute extremes the bracket reset is only 1 more game, and actually less at the other extreme.

With the given min max values of each, the average number of games played is actually more in the FT5 system.

"It just takes too long" isn't a good argument.

Guys, a lot of you don't seem to understand what we're trying to do here. Online tournaments like these have helped several players get to big tournaments in the past. I understand many ppl roll their eyes at the thought of an online tournament, but doing an offline tournament to help players who are scattered throughout the country get money to travel would be counter productive. These tourneys can be fun and entertaining. Even if you don't think you will win, who knows you might impress the person who does and they might give it to you. This is a chance for online warriors who can't travel, to do so. If 10 ppl sign up thats 100 bucks in the winners pocket. If 20 = 200 bucks, and so on. If the community does not support events like this, then no one will run them in the future.

Anyone you sponsor must meet the no top 8 rule at MLG and EVO. When a person is sponsored, the person playing gets the winnings.

You guys have 2 weeks to sign up. The goal is at least 20 players for this tournament. If we can't meet that, then I'll have to cancel it and refund entry's. And won't bother to try running these again.

We're all here because we're competitive, and this is a chance to compete and test your skills against other people in the community. It's online so don't take it too seriously, but you still have fun competing and if you win you get some money to travel and compete for real and even if you lose you're helping one of your friends in the community make it to an offline event. Pig's tournament for Dallas ended up being pretty successful even though a few asshats tried to mess it up. We've learned from those mistakes and I'd like to show we can do one of these right.

To help kickstart this one, I'll sponsor two people and if we can hit 30 people I'll throw an extra $50 into the pot. That'd be $350 for the winner, enough to cover travel and a good portion of lodging

CptXecution's tournament had like 100 people, so I know there are people willing to compete online(I know that was different because it was free, but $10 isn't that much and this one'll have less competition so you have more chance of winning). Our game's going to Evo again, we should have these going for every major. Where's the hype?
