My Personal Recollection of NEC 13

Not sure if anyone will want to read everything that I posted seeing as it's extremely long. Fully expecting a ton of TL;DR, but I felt it was necessary to post my recollection of the entire event. Seeing as it was my first actual major I thought it would be cool to give my point of view of everything that went down as well as how the weekend went for me personally. As I said before, I didn't do this for everyone to read, but I thought it would be cool to post a little rundown of what took place at NEC 13. I also included some pictures that I took as well as events that took place outside of the tournament. I know that Showtime and Matix218 told me to give them a heads up when I posted this so here you go. For the rest of y'all, I didn't proofread a good chunk of it so if you see a couple of grammar or spelling mistakes that is why. I hope my fellow TYMers enjoy my post and give me feedback on this recollection. I give shoutouts to all of the people I met like GGA 16 Bit Tom Brady REO and many more. I've always said, make sure you have lots of water to drink and some snacks, and some new shoes for the weekend that are really comfy.

Sounds like you had fun despite the slow running tourny, I do hate when people don't get up to let other people play, sometimes you just gotta keep buggin them and making them look like a dick for not getting up lol

Once you get more comfortable with the people around, you won't be afraid to bully people out of spots to play.

I used to be really quiet and not talk much during tournaments and stuff, but I mean now you see me I'm loud as fuck and will probably lose my voice at every tournament now.

Oh and I like to bully Reo out of spots for casuals

CRUM your write ups are the best man. Also thanks for the kind words! You are probably the coolest person to talk to of any of the guys in the mk community that I have met. I look forward to seeing you at the next tournament man! Also good games in tournament! I am being honest when I say that your Lao really had me scared especially after that first round! Say hi to your girlfriend as well, I think that's so cool that she comes out to the events with you! Also don't get at all discouraged, you played well in a really close match with neorussell that could have totally gone either way and I feel the same about your match with me. You are definitely a good player man! Don't think otherwise!! Shoutouts to crum, literally one of the coolest people in this community

Thanks man I couldn't give you enough props. Your AAs are on point and you definitely leveled up your game awareness and overcame a matchup that you're uncomfortable with. Hopefully ill get a chance to run it back at Winter Brawl

yeah i hate how they wait for "pros" and disregard amateurs, "noobs" to tournaments usually get treated worst and it's sad

Interesting to read a recollection from the perspective of a player who is relatively new to majors.

I'm glad that you got through one of the more trying of majors early on, and that you still managed to make the best out of it and enjoy yourself, and haven't given up.

Let's keep playing and level up! Winter Brawl is not too far away, and there should be some locals coming up, too.

Also, the next majors should be less crazy, and hopefully will allow for us to have a bit more time to play casuals. It'd definitely be cool to get more warm-up games in.

I also must take a minute and recognize Crosstalk as one of the strongest players to not make it out of Pools. After winning his first match, he lost to Krayzie in winners in a close 2-1 set. He then took out DrFlash before meeting Riu48 and losing again in a VERY close 2-1 set. He is undoubtedly the kind of player that my fellow New England players I need in order to improve our gameplay.

This is funny to me because I asked crosstalk how he did in the tournament and he just said "not so well" without giving any further information. I didn't realize he was playing such close matches against some of the best MK players in the business. If he keeps improving his game I think he's got the potential to really surprise some people at Winter Brawl.

He did a great job. I believe he went 2-2 and his pool had some real tough players. It came down to the last round between him and Riu48. I thought crosstalk looked great and he will definitely get better and be a threat wherever he plays next.

I wasn't able to get any games at Dallas with him sadly or see him play but I look forward to it in a couple weeks.

Absolutely. We're going to have a lot of MK players at GU. and by that I mean between 10 and 12

Yeah haha it pretty much came down to a single combo with Riu48. I'll definitely be at GU the 29th, and the KN tournament and WB are possibilities too, not totally sure yet.
