CoCo Replays: 16 Bit Gets a "Toasty Boost" Victory Over Perfect Legend

This is one of the very first times we have put this newly found discovery to the test and last night it paid off in a big way for GGA's 16 Bit. For those who may have missed out on the action, Perfect Legend and the guys of GGA made a special appearance at Console Combat yesterday. It came down to 16 Bit vs Perfect Legend in the very last round. While Perfect Legend was performing the "hey, hey, hey!" combo in the corner, an unexpected guest made an appearance in the bottom right corner of the screen. His name is Dan Forden and he dropped by to say "Toasty!". Not missing a beat, 16 Bit immediately entered the input of "FFB4" (forward, forward, back, circle)... and... "Toasty Boost!"

It's safe to say that "Toasty Boost" is practical and it is legal! Here's why.

Not just a toasty. But a toasty immediately followed by flawless to win a tournament. That will never ever be repeated. GGA 16 Bit can claim so many victories. Top Kitana, first person to execute a fatality on the Evo main stage, this toasty boost victory, and of course "LBSH".

I think people should stop looking at the Toasty Boost and look at how well GGA 16 Bit played that match, ESPECIALLY after being knocked into losers by PL, coming back to get the reset 6-1 (I think?) against a bad matchup is just really great.

He only got a little more than 1/2 a bar from the Toasty boost. Also, he got hit with a 25% combo right afterwards, so he would have had full meter going into the 3rd round regardless. It was hype as hell, but unless PL was trying for the Toasty Boost and was denied, I do not think it had any effect on the match.

Not to discredit bit, but PL kept on making a few mistakes over and over, but still remained very competitive. I really wish I could see what would've happened if PL was maximizing his Kabal combos and blowing up cutter.

But really, you could have just said 'I wish PL would have won' in your original post. I mean, isn't that inevitably what would have happened if PL maximized his combos and blew up every cutter? At least, that's what it sounds like you're implying. IMO 16 Bit would have adapted accordingly after getting blown up for trying it.

I'm just saying I wish that PL adapted faster and I could see how the match played out from there. I'm friends with the guys in both scenes so I truly had no preference as to who won. Just wish I could've seen PL at his peak.

This is the greatest, most true thing I've ever read. If you play worse than your opponent, then they by default played better than you.

Man PL is a monster. He never holds block, instead he just ducks n reacts to each poke

If Carl had played the Kitana MU better I likely would have gotten my back blown out. Which is what happened before when I played him in other tournaments.

This is how I'm able to overcome her bad MU. It's what I do. No shame in that.

absolutely glorious! that was hella hype, and that pressure from GGA 16 Bit's Kitana!!! damnnnnn, and people say all he can do is throw fans? i think not.

not to mention this confirms that you can do the inputs while being combo'd, i was under the impression you had to breaker out of the combo first.
