90's hip hop was by far the best. Today's hip hop is pretty much a joke, but maybe that's the oldschool in me. Andre 3000 and Talib are my faves.

There's a lot of good hip hop albums that came out this year. I'd say this has been a really good year. Death Grips' The Money Store, El-P's Cancer 4 Cure, Ab-Soul's Control System, Killer Mike's RAP Music, Joey Badass' 1999, Clams Casino's Instrumental Mixtape 2 are some albums that come to mind. The Money Store is probably my fav hip hop album that came out this year. Last year was probably Shabazz Palaces - Black Up.

Oh also Kendrick Lamar's release this year (Good Kid Mad City) was really good. Top 5 lyricists for me are cLOUDDEAD, Kool Keith, MC Ride, El-P, and Nas.

Mainstream, yes. But overall I can't agree.
yea a lot of new artists from ny's underground can compete with 90's rappers, such as immortal technique, and new mainstream rappers like lupe fiasco. 90's did have the best easily accessible music though.

if i had to do my list it would be:

nas
Gza/genius
lupe fiasco
Big L
Immortal technique
