In Depth Top 16 Analysis and Predictions

1. Perfect Legend - the two time Evolution champion has yet to win an MLG event. I predict this weekend will be his time to shine and establish himself as the best Mortal Kombat 9 player if he has not already done so in some people's opinions.
Likely Character(s): Kung Lao (main), Kabal (secondary)
Potential Mismatch(es): Dizzy (Cage), Gross (Sektor)

2. REO - the best Kabal player on the planet has won the previous MLG event in Raleigh. Winning two consecutive MLG events is unprecedented but certainly possible if your name is REO. I predict a solid second place finish.

Potential Mismatch(es): CD Jr. (Kung Lao), Perfect Legend (Kung Lao)

3. CD Jr. - CD Jr. has never placed worst than 4th place and I do not expect this event to be any different. He always executes, but sometimes he is not into the fight mentally.

Potential Mismatch(es): Dizzy (Cage)

4. Pig Of The Hut - there is only one question to be asked. Has he found an answer to Kabal? If he has not, he will place 4th. If he has, he will win this event.

Potential Mismatch(es): CD Jr. (Kabal), Perfect Legend (Kabal), REO (Kabal)

5. Dizzy - Dizzy is better than he has ever been. When this man gets in, he sticks to you like glue. He does very well against zoning characters, even against characters like Kabal, Kenshi, and Freddy. But can he beat the very best? That remains to be seen.

6. Maxter - sin ninguna duda es el maestro de Cyrax y sus combos. I would not want to fight this guy's Cyrax the way he is playing at the moment. He is, however, another player who must be able to beat a high level Kabal player if he wishes to place top 3 or better.

7. DetroitBalln313 - I am hearing he is present in Dallas. I am also hearing he has been training with Kabal and Shang Tsung in a smoke-filled room in Arizona this whole time. I expect nothing but a top 8 finish after the disappointing finish at Evolution earlier this year.

8. Showtime - he surprised everybody with his top 8 finish at Raleigh. But once people know how good you are, you can no longer surprise them. You have to beat people who have studied your gameplay. I expect a solid top 8 finish.

9. GGA Osu 16 Bit - What hurts 16 Bit more than everything else is his stubbornness to pick another character for Kitana's highly difficult match ups. If he runs into Pig or Showtime, he will lose. If he does not, he will place top 8.

11. Gross - el gran jugador de la Republica Dominicana. This prediction was the most difficult one to make because no one really knows how good this guy really is. Hopefully, he can keep his nerves calm so that he performs the best of his ability.

Potential Mismatch(es): Pig (Kenshi), others?

12. WoundCowboy - people are in for a surprise once they play this guy. I would not be surprised he placed higher than 12th place. His Shang Tsung is always on point.

13. CD Sr. - I am hearing he was unable to prepare as much as he would have liked to for this even. Unfortunately, Skarlet is a character that needs a plethora of preparation. He must execute if he wants to place high.

14. B W1zZ - B W1zZ is the best Raiden player I have ever played. He has been inconsistent and unable to prove so to the community. I predict a solid top 16 finish because Raiden has some difficult match ups to play.

15. GGA Han - I was very impressed when he beat Osu 16 Bit at Season's Beatings Ascension. If he is able to pull more upsets, he will place top 16... or better. Both his Curax and Reptile are very solid.

16. GGA Wafflez - as most already know I am not a big fan of Smoke. However, objectively speaking the character has too many difficult match ups to place high in an event such as this one. But if anybody can win them with Smoke it would be Wafflez... Coward Wafflez, that is.

m2dave, California and Vegas will be in attendance. Vegas has me, Denzell, and Dab going. California has Tyrant, Satsui, Son ov Timett, Krayzie, Red Reaper, Compton, and i dnt know the rest haha who are coming.

Oh, turns out it's actually serious. Damn. It's still great analysis though.

PS: I don't think Wafflez is in Dallas, and Detroit tweeted a while ago that he just got back home after 16 hours of work, so unless he pulled off the biggest troll job since the NWO invaded WCW, I don't think he'll be there.

As far as PL goes, I think his main two threats are Dizzy and Maxter. Not just because they were the last two to beat him, but we know he hates playing Cage and Cyrax.

He told me the last time that his Kung Lao is ready for Cyrax, which is interesting because I thought he was going to stick to Kabal for that match up.

factors: will mlg's notorious player seperation cause problems for socal?

How comfortable is denzel in his m/u's with cyrax, will he need to counterpick kabal?

Will we see the touch of death combos?

Not as much as he would if he legit played rush down. He seems to call it rush down but spends a fair amount of time zoning. He talks like he plays Freddy like Cage but that isn't what I've seen in his matches. I also don't think he'll go 100% Freddy, just a guess though.

This tournament is hard to call so I'll only say that I think we'll see someone almost no one predicted in top 8. Will it be gross or madzin or DAB? All names that a few people that have played swear are great but outside of their small circle no one is picking them. Could it be someone else entirely? Still I feel there will be at least one name like that in top 8.

Actually, I've changed my mind, I will make one more prediction. I think Pig Of The Hut is going to win it. If his answer to Kabal is half as good as he's hyped it up to be, I think he has this tournament. That said I'm rooting hardcore for GGA 16 Bit to beat Pig in tournament. That would be the best match of the tournament, hands down. If MLG didn't stream it I would personal kick each and every person responsible in their respective genitals.

there's too many good players, known and unknown, to make predictions imo.

i think (and hope, for the sake of hype) there will be a ton of upsets.
