Injustice Tourney Standard Console - XBOX or PS3?

Simple question. MK9 is currently run on PS3, considered by many to be the inferior console. It's generally agreed upon that the PS3 version lags by 1-2 frames. X-Rays often play at half speed because they are too intense for the PS3 to process. Because of this, XBOX 360 is thought to be the superior console for MK9, and is often times the superior console for fighting games in general. To my knowledge; AE, Marvel, KoF, and SCV are all played on 360.

We must decide, as a community, which console that we want Injustice Tournaments to be run on. I propose 360.

PS3 pad is so much better so PS3 I hope.
That is an awful reason to choose a console for tournament play. It should be based on specifications of the console and how well games run on it, not controller preference. That is easily fixable! Console inferiority is not. I hate to put PS3 on blast but, man.... 360 is just the better console for fighting games (with the exception of TTT2) :\

How about we wait until its actually out and see whats up?
Because if Injustice is going to be at a tournament, the game disc has to be placed into a console first. Sure we can just leave it up to individual TOs to use whatever consoles they have, however we need to have that preference decided as a community imo. We didn't even know of PS3's problems (timing differences/lag) until well into the game's release when it was too late to switch. That's why I'm trying to bring this issue up now so people can consider that maybe PS3 isn't the best route for Injustice at a competitive level.

Whichever console doesn't have stupid lockout chips on their PCBs forcing you to use sub par pads.

Blazblue has a legitimate reason to be ran on 360, and Tekken has a legitimate reason to be ran on PS3.

The whole tug of war between whether MK9 should be ran on PS3 or 360 however has been nothing more than myth monging, fanboyish conjecture in any attempt to get the game ran on their personal favorite console. And generally any performance abnormalities this community doesn't understand is just referred to as "lag". LOL

X-Rays and what-not don't lag on PS3 because they're too hard to handle, they lag on PS3 because the game was ported from Xbox to PS3. PS3 is actually the superior console hardware wise, so if the game had been developed on it NRS wouldn't have been able to port it to the Xbox. Or so I heard. So the PS3 just ended up with an inferior version of the game.

Well what happens if we choose the xbox version RIGHT THE FUCK NOW, and then like a month after the game is out we realize its completely busted and has horrible framerate problems and the PS3 is the better version?

How can we possibly decide which version is better when the game is not out?

This.

The Wii U version despite the console itself being more powerful than the 360 AND PS3 will more than likely have the same issues, but it's out of the question anyway since it's a brand new console and will therefore be a nightmare trying to get your controller of choice working on it.

Because NRS wouldn't release a busted game with horrible framerate problems. As Error said, it's easier to develop for 360 and port to PS3 than it is to do it the other way around. Meaning that the "true" experience will be on 360. TTT2 is an exception as it was done the opposite way for whatever masochistic reason.

I think controller preference is based entirely on the time invested on it. I CANNOT play on a PS3 controller. First and last time I did, I could not throw a smoke bomb, or even low poke. Grew accustomed to the motions required to play on the 360 controller, which do not work on the PS3 one (and vice-versa).

Have they ever publicly said the xbox was the lead platform for MK9? And even if they did, why are we assuming Injustice is the same? Lots of devs start with xbox as the lead for the first game and then move on to PS3 because its easier to do PS3 > Xbox then the reverse.

Not to mention they improved there engine a lot since MK9, who knows how the two consoles handle it now.

Well how about instead of FPS problems, the xbox version crashed 5 times as much as the ps3 version? Or it randomly had console specific glitches?

No one knows how either version is going to turn out, it is silly to try and set a tournament standard on something that doesn't even exist yet.

Thats not really true of Marvel. Sony sponsors the major tournies and as such they're played on PS3. Happens a lot with Sony actually and they tend to buy exclusives in fighters to get a leg up on nonexclusive titles to essentially make them exclusive cheaply. SFxTekken comes to mind with Kuro, Toro, Cole, BBA Mega Man, and Pacman ALL being exclusive and with MK9 getting Kratos exclusively on PS3.

A lot of fighters run better on 360 because there tends to be some frame drop on Marvel and a few other fighters on PS3 likely due to the split processing of the system, but Sony money on titles and tournies sort of buys a lot of the fighter crowd to PS3.

I only own a 360 BTW. Just stating what I've experienced and I gotta say it blows to be a 360 guy who plays stick knowing you'll have to pay to dual mod your gear or buy another stick entirely just for tourney play 9 times out of 10.

FrothyOmen how can you generalize that fighting games are 'better' on Xbox when Injustice isn't even out yet. Doesn't really make sense to assume that Injustice will be primarily on Xbox just because of the past.

Well first off, the last time they tried to give a fighting game on Xbox an exclusive character, they ended up with Spawn in Soul Calibur 2, and the funniest thing is, he was originally going to be in all 3 versions. (you can still find code for him if you use AR on PS2 or GC)

It's pretty ironic considering those same developers made sure the games they developed for the PS2 all ran a-ok from 2002 onwards, and the PS2 was "harder" to program for than any console released in the last 10 years. Look up the architecture for it, it's inconsistent as hell. There's not really such a thing as a easy as hard system to program for, it's generally who's first out of the gate and who will therefore get acquainted with developing for it year in year out. When PS2 dev kits were first shipped out to major publishers, everyone was bitching relentlessly about them, but that's because they were coming from the Dreamcast which had very PC/Windows-esque architecture on it's dev kits, and everyone was able to figure out pretty quickly how to get the most out of it.

One more thing, I know how you feel about not having a dual-mod on your stick, here in the UK, every single fighter is ran on 360, no questions asked, although it's nothing to do with running any better, the reason why they use 360s is.. pretty laughable actually.

The PS3 version was at TGS.
Interesting.. but then that might only be because of how poorly received the 360 is in Japan.
